...The One and Only...
Okay, so here's the deal.

I bought this 1988 CRX with a B18a swap for $380. The engine was just rebuilt 2000 miles ago with a bored and resleeved head, and a new valvetrain with all new OEM parts.

The car runs fine for the most part, but it burns oil pretty badly, and the wiring is a nightmare.

Also, when the car gets to operating temperature or higher, then ignition cuts, out. It has been suggested that it could be the igniter.
I also am throwing an intermittent Code 43 (Fuel Supply System Malfunction). It has also been suggested that it could be because of a faulty O2 sensor.

I checked the resistance of the injectors and injector resistor and found that they were within working spec.
I have still yet to test the FPR or replace the fuel filter.

Also, I am not sure how the oil is leaking into the cylinder, because the car is getting a full 175-180psi of compression on all four cylinders. I think I may have a bad valve seal somewhere.

Once I get the ignition problem fixed, I will be pulling the head to figure out why I'm burning oil and to swap in my new 11.8:1 pistons

If it smokes all the time it is rings. If it only smokes when you start it the is the valve seals. If it is the rings and there's oil in the cylinders the compression will be ok/high. As for the ignition problem when my car did the same thing it was be cause my msd box was over heating the stock coil. Hope this helps.... all this is just my 2 cents....

You really think that theres enough oil getting into the cylinder that it would wet the rings enough to give me a full compression reading?

I burn about a quart of oil a week.

I think that the burning oil could have screwed up my O2 sensor which is causing my intermittent CEL.

Someone has suggested that I may have a bad igniter which, when it heats up too much, is causing my problem. I think I may just replace the whole dizzy with an MSD dizzy.

Do you think it's okay that I'm driving it around when it's burning that much oil? I drive it about 10 miles a week or less

When my rings where bad I went threw the same amount of oil and my motor was showing 175 - 180. The driving part is up to you do what you gota do.

I dont have to drive the car, I just like to take it out to drive around the block every day, because I love driving it, even though its not legally on the road.

I just dont want to damage anything when I do it, like i said, the engine has been bored and resleeved .020" over, and I dont want to ruin the sleeves by driving it around.

Pretty soon I'll be swapping in my new pistons, but I want to get the dizzy replaced first, and I need to get new rod bearings for good measure

You check the muffler bearings? that could be the problem, because of the bored and resleeved head.
