power-fuckin-steering pump

For those that missed my old thread when I put my skidplate on...The pump isn't belt driven. Its electric and sits on the steering rack with a little cooling fan over it. the fucking thing was still running with the engine off, keys out, alarm set. So now the battery is disconnected (which is great..all my radio presets, eq settings, CD/DVD text, and navigation points will be erased)

$350 and only the dealer sells 'em
I've got to put in a call to my old boss tomorrow and see if he can get me one off an 05-06. Apparently this is a BIG problem with the 02-03's, the newer cars have a better pump (so they say)

this is the fucker (you can see it poking out behind the fan on the right)

Engineer 1: Lets get rid of the belt driven pump!
Engineer 2: Thats a dumb ass idea
Engineer 1: It'll be brilliant! you wait and see!
Engineer 2: you're a moron.
Engineer 1: Look here, just add this motor here.. couple of wires there..
Engineer 2: That motor wont work in those conditions.. You're straining it.
Engineer 1: It'll be fine.
Engineer 2: Your pump is on fire.
Engineer 1: **scrambles around the shop, grabs the extinguisher, puts the car out**
Engineer 2: *giggles*
Engineer 1: Well damn. I already ordered 30 thousand pumps. This thing needs to work.
Engineer 2: ....
Engineer 1: Um.. How about a fan.. Yeah!
Engineer 2: You're adding too many parts.. Its getting too complicated.
Engineer 1: 30,000 fans on the way!
Engineer 2: *sigh* Ok, lets just order a bigger, stronger pump that wont have to work so hard.
Finance team: Nope, cant afford it, we spent all of our money on R&D for the beltless power steering pump.
Engineer 2: /wrists.
