I know they have to use a new platform- but it would be totally badass for Toyota to make the car in its original form. Maybe offer a kit for cheap that enthusiasts could build on their own? That way Toyota wouldn't have to bother with all the certifications involved with campaigning a new car.
 
true. A modernized version would be awesome but itll probably be underpowered and too heavy because of safety stuff and emissions.

cars.com and autotrader dont have a single gts within 300 miles of me :(

Anyone who calls the AE86 "Pleasingly Driftable" has no experience with them outside of video games.

It's difficult to get them drift worthy.

Also, this may be a design school exercise. Like the Lancia Stratos prototype:

This wasn't a Lancia design at all. Lancia learned about it way after the magazines did. It was just a project from some design school kids.
