Buzz kill of the day...

I've got to get a new motor for the 330
:weep:

out of pocket without claiming it on insurance will be 5600 from factory or 4400 from this company that we go through at work... not including parts and warranty (thank God I know the guys in the shop)

cant decide whether or not to call the insurance company :dunno:

Finish the 00 ex FTW!!!

what's your deductable ?? if it's 500 or 1000, I'd take advantage of it. A no-fault claim to get your car fixed isn't going to raise your premiums, hell I backed into a telephone poll $1500 of repair work, $400 out of my pocket and my insurance premiums actually decrease each year thereafter. that's why we pay for insurance, too use it.

I wasnt aware that it would be a no fault claim... I dont want my premium to go up Ive got 500comprehensive 500collision.... Ill give them a call after I get these deals out to the banks... Pray to God that they arent total deuches!!!

Oh and heres another thing I was going to ask today...
My motor (for the civic) is just about ready to get put together just need to get all the gaskets and little things like that...

Ive already got everything to turbo it
so the question is...

To Turbo or not to turbo?

the better question is why not turbo it?

def claim it. it will go under comprehensive deductible most likely.

a claim does NOT automatically raise your rates.

in fact, after i put in my STi claim of 8500 bucks, my rates went DOWN the next renrewall term.

and S54 FTW

if this is gonna be your DD/only car for a while i'd wait to boost it till the bmw gets fixed

does the intake company have any sort of warranty? not likely but you never know
this is something i'd expect from AEM, but not a bmw aftermarket company

Jamie - Do you want to get to CA faster or slower? Turbo! lmao... sucks about the beemer... but, if it was a Honda it would have survived... true... I hydrolocked my B16 and it STILL runs. :p ok ok... but, i've actually had a BMW go 200 miles before seizing with absolutely no water/coolant in it... opened the hood after it 'died' and the block was WHITE hot. funny story, really...

good luck sweets!

I mis-plumbed the Vacuum to the Cooling lines and actually managed to NOT hydrolock it. It was actually spitting coolant out the tailpipe.

Yea wish the water had just went through the tailpipe but the water was almost if it wasnt that high... I feel like stabbing someone in the juggular lol any takers... lol Where'd B go? maybe he knows about an aftermarket warranty on the dinan intake... Ill have to look it up later unless anyone knows off hand

i doubt an aftermarket company would cover it. I'm sure they were smart enough to put some fine print in one of their books that releases them from liability if you go driving through deep ass puddles. Even if your deductible did go up, i doubt it would end up costing you as much in the long run as straight up buying the new motor.

Every decent engine is built with precision. The problem with BMW's is they have 5234535 more moving parts than other designs.

Ford 289, T5 trans, Done.

a BMW that runs FTW !
this is just wrong in so many ways
at least make it a fuel injected 302

i have yet to find a motor with strong enough rods to compress water 11:1 without making pretzels out of them
