Hey everyone i love hondas BUt i still love the feeling of my first car (mazda rx7 turbo 87) next check i should have enough to either swap my single cam for a b18c1 ($1500) or buy a 87 rubo rx7 that needs minor work ($1400).

don't buy an rx7 unless you know how to completely rebuild a rotary. end of story.
 
i will always love RX7s
you have a daily driver... im guessing its reliable
the RX7 is a hell of a fun toy
 
the 87 Turbo II is RARE. Get it. One of the finest made (I prefer Mark 1s in any generation of car, like I prefer the Mk1 3rd and 2nd gen Supras)

A rotary is EASY, but you have to change your way of thinking, totally, to "get it".

Civic = smart
RX7 = fun.


When you feel the handling of a properly setup RX7 you'll forget about the Civic. The Rx7 can keep up with a Lotus Esprit in the twisties (As I've done in the seat) And that was only a GXL.

Chances are the RX7 is coming to you with leaky apex seals though. This means the whole engine comes apart. Imagine doing piston rings.
 
rx7 good for about 100k if your nice to it. if you beet the shit out of it good for about 55-60k

Again, you have to change your entire way of thinking about them. There are only (basically) 3 moving parts. What can be so unreliable about that ?

beside the shitty ass carb.Rx7 Buyer's Guide read this and you will know what to look for when buying an rx7.
 
thanks everyone youve made my choice a lil easier ill post pics soon and but that means 2 months till i even think about buying a gsr complete swap
 
F the gsr swap
keep the civic basically stock
or do simply enjoyability things like brakes and suspension and shit


take the RX7 and mod that out

mod the toy not the DD
 
yeah, RX7s have been fuel injected since 1982. The 12A motor does suck, and the 86.5 should be avoided. The 4 lug RX7 standards should be avoided as well. 1987 got the chassis right, and the 13B right.
 
ive always been a fan of the RX-7...but like its already been said...i dont know if it would be a good DD...so make sure you keep your DD
 
The biggest problem of using an RX7 as a daily is in stop and go, it'll get like 18 mpg.

IT's meant to stay on the highway at 120 mph. It gets like 35 mpg then.
 
yeah man, I talked to an owner of a Legecy Outback today (She wants a Yaris) and she gets 18 mpg.
 
Rx-7 handsdowns.

Just make sure you know what you're doing, or else it will be a nightmare.
