I swaped my 1992 civic cx very easily with the d16z6. Pulls a lot harder then the stock d15 and i have a skunk2 chipped ecu with dual vtec points lot more power then stock p28. I would like to stay d series just because when i smoke fools and say i have a sohc they laugh and say "ya RIGHT". then when i prove it the look on there faces is GREEEEAT!! I need more power tho and do not want to rebuild internal till later in life. So what kind of set up em i lookin for. I would like decent power gain but not change internals and not blow motor cuz its a daily driver PLZ HELP

The kit i found is a 5psi i dont remeber what turbo it is but its EBAY of course cuz im poor. If i was rich i would just put a k20 swap and run it bone stock and be happy. So i hsould be fine with only 5 psi. My car is light so with my d16d6 and skunk2 and turbo it should run some decent times for a sohc vtec motor right.

hey well just keep the bosst around 8 psi or 7..hey if i were u i wouldnt trust ebay turbos....it would be better just to get a trubo from turbonetics or greddy just in case that u want to upgrade later on..and keep the d16z6 thats our power and yeah its funny to see their faces jajajaja..i have seen a couple...peace.

So i can get the kit from Ebay but get i diff turbo. Well nvm i found a greddy kit on ebay for 1,000 bucks. Thanks for the help guys. Post if anyone has anything else i should no.

You can eailsy put together a turbo kit for a dseries homemade style...best place to check out is Homemadeturbo.com , just look and research dont ask any questions everyone will be bitches about any question you ask.

I recently sold my old hatch with a d16z6 stock internal with arp head studs and cometic headgasket and at 11psi I was pushing 236 to the wheels.. its all in the tune and that may be another thing you are misssing you have to have a method of tuning the car to be capable of running turbo..you can run an fmu which is not suggested...chipped ecu best bang for your buck..or a complete computer system such as aem...ect...

so focus on those areas before you dive into it no need in blowing up a good motor for nothing..hope that helps some

So what i think im going to do is get an intercooler and piping kit off Ebay but what is the best ebay brand.
Then im going junk yarding for wastegate turbo and bov. Then ill have to get a junk yard oil pan and run the oil for the turbo what else em i missing.

Just use your better judgment on the IC and piping...as far as something that works for a setup like you plan on running a dsm side mount would work great. there is no need to find a junkyard oil pan..just tap yours for the oil return line...

and a list of stuff needed would be

Turbo..with internal wastegate
downpipe...and possibly an upgrade in size from stock exhaust
manifold with or without internal or external wastgate flange...if you go with a manifold with a flange an external wastegate is your best bet
injectors
resistor box for the injectors
intercooler with piping
BOV
oil return and feed lines
arp head studs...best bet it the head will lift with stock studs..I have seen it happen many times
cometic headgasket..unless you want to keep replacing stock ones
some type of tuning device...FMU "not suggested" chipping kit for your ecu...or a complete engine management system
upgraded clutch, stock ones tend to slip
boost gauge
wideband so you can see you can monitor a/f ratios

If I can think of anything more I will post it up. Installing a turbo kit is pretty much straight foward..if you understand what you are doing..The tuning is the key to any good build..do so research like I said and make 100% sure you are ready to do the job..If not have a shop with some credibility do the work for you

u get what u pay for. and i dont want to burst ur bubble, but if u beat somebody with a d16 on stock internals, boosted or not, ur probably not beating anything worth bragging about. financial situation aside, research research research....

Why u are hating....just bcause u swap something else into the bay??...isnt that being cheating..cuz we work with what honda gave us.......

If u knew anthing about hondas the 92-95 civic HB come stock with a d16z6. i just took the d15 which had no hope and put that in which was a huge diff in power. If i wanted to i could just get the motor i have in the garage out but that is scary fast so i just left it for my other project. So if ur gonna hate dont post plz. I just want info not some one Talkin S***t. THANKS TO THOSE OF YOU WITH HELPFUL INFO

thats what im saying we work and even beat doch series with our d15 or d16 series haterz...and its fun to see all ur faces looking at d16 wich beated u in the highway..lol..

uh...im not hating. i have well over 300 in my 98 EX, running a J-Spec GSR, LSD, Turbonetics T3/T4 ball bearing, Skunk 2, Spearco, ACT, Greddy, ect. ect. ect., and too many aftermarket parts to count. and that IS HONDA POWER. isnt this hondaSWAP.com?? how the f#ck is that cheating?? so hate on brother.

if what ur referring too is ur SOHC w/the usual I/H/E beating a couple low level B16s, then throw a party and enjoy what u can, because THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN w/me. when u step it up to the big boys, then come talk to me.

I never said u couldnt have a decent set up with SOHC. I said RESEARCH. ask anyone, if ur serious about power, u wont get it from a d16

I would have to disagree on your last statement research any site such as turbod16.com homemadeturbo.com and you will see some SOHC engines putting out massive amouts of power.. upwards in the 5 to 700 hp range even more..and I will put money these setups cost 3 times less than a DOHC turbo setup....fyi my buddy has a d16z6 turbo hatch running on stock internals for the past 3 years and still running constant 12's on 11lbs of boost...????? and he has well under 600 in his setup..so yes if you know what you are doing SOHC can produce as much or more if they are done right

u can polish a turd, but its still a turd.

show me a dyno of a d16 w/STOCK internals getting 600hp, and ill give u my Lambo Murcielago.........aint happinen. it can be done just as u said, but anyone putting that much work into a SOHC is doing it with a SH!Tload of money, and prolly for bracket class bracket racing

I never said those numbers what on stock internals, and no there isnt a shit load of money involved in doing a good build like I said if you know what you are doing. Just look it at this way... you run your stock motor on boost..you blow you are looking at a shit load of cash to get it fixed...SOHC on the otherhand you break one of those they are a dime a dozen easy and cheap fix?? and the same amount of money you spend on your DOHC will put you as a street class..the same amout into a SOHC will put you into bracket racing..hummm which would I do??

i have a d16z6 that i pushed 12 to but it blew the head gasket

what the fuck is this shit? stock rod can only handle 200 hp? headstuds will help you not blow a headgasket so i suggest them
