what up everyone .. im driving a 97 civic EX with an LS motor and a greddy turbo. i wanted to know what is the difference if i add on vtec head or should i just leave it as an LS turbo??

The power gains are well worth the effort and are very reliable , but only if the head swap is "done right".
A friend of mine gained 30 whp on an NA b18 by swapping the ls head for a b18c1 head.

virtually the same. The b18c head has slightly more agressive cams while a b16 head is slightly better flowing. I would stick with a b16 head because it is probably a little cheaper, and I like its intake manifold better (the gsr head has a different bolt pattern and has a dual runner design)

B18C head does give a slightly higher compression ration over the B16, but like 99sidude said, B16 is cheaper. Depends too if you're going to upgrade the head or not i.e. cams, retainers, springs etc. If you're going to upgrade, get the B16, if not, it may be worthwhile to get the B18C, especially if you can get it for a decent price, IMO.

I will have to disagree with the above. If you put a b16 head on the b18 ls block you get a compression boost. The b18c1 head is built stronger but the b16 head with upgraded internals is by far more powerful. With the b16 head u need to make sure ur internals have been upgraded and make sure to get some better head bolts so it dont lift on u. But if u just want to slap vtec on it and be done with it go with the b18c1 head. And if u do that do your self a favor and get a good intake manifold. (personally i dont like the stck gsr manifold ur choice tho)

you are wrong
:D

Well then let me know what is the truth tell me what u no im em going off what i heard and im just starting my ls vtec project and havent bought a head yet so TELL ME!!!!

Like I said, if you use a B18C head you get a slightly higher compression ratio, as compared to the B16 (everything else remaining the same).

the reason for more CR from gsr head is:
A. valves are bigger
B. IM is different
C. compression chambers are smaller

a?b?c?

answer after the break

start your own thread... but youll need ngk bkr7 or one step colder than oem...

C is the answer BTW
