Hey guys...so i still havent gotten my car started yet...i have two more options to check...if it has bad grounds and if it has jumped a tooth...the only thing is...i dont know how to check either one...im not sure where the ground wires are on a 97 accord...is there a schematic out there somewhere that shows all the ground wires? or is it simple enough that someone can just tell me...or take pics and show me? and i know there is something out there about checking for a jumped tooth...i just have to find it again...anyways...any help would be much appreciated...thanks...

sorry man if i would have seen this earlier i would have responded sooner. jumping one tooth is not going to be enough timing that the car wont start. look at your negative battery terminal. if it is corroded clean it, the two wires that come off it (one to the block and the other to the coresupport) are the two main grounds for the car. make sure those are entact.

do you have an obdII to obdI jumper harness? i just saw that you have an obdII car and an obdI motor

Thanks for the response...yes i have the conversion harness...i even have a new distributor, distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs arent new but are good (i even tried putting fresh cheapo spark plugs in there to see if they were the problem)

im getting spark SOMETIMES...its weird...one time we checked and i was getting no spark on #1, and spark on #'s 2,3,4...then we checked #1 again and it was showing very little spark...

we had a ground tester...and when we would put it on some metal that would be a good ground...it read higher than what it should be...so that is why im assuming bad grounds...but ill definitely check those ones you mentioned...thanks again

If that isnt it...then i guess my only other option would be to buy ANOTHER distributor???

You may be able to pull apart the dizzy. I had to tear down and rebuild (I say rebuild for lack of a better word) mine on my old d16z6. I had to replace the icm (ignition control module) and I decided to replace the coil while I had it out and open, but when my icm went out...I got nooooo spark at all.

ya check the coil, sounds like it may be bad

but if the coil was bad...would i even be getting what spark i am getting?...or do you just think maybe the coil is bad but hasnt gone all the way out yet?

exactly

call honda and get the correct output for the coil and then test it. if its not putting out the correct voltage then there may lie your problem

The best thing...if possible, would be to hook up your ignition system to an o-scope. You would be able to tell firing voltage in each cylinder as well as check for coil oscillations to determine if the coil was weak. You could as powerdriverh22 said...call Honda and get the resistance specifications for the coil and check it that way too. I want to say, but am not positive its around 12-14k ohms(secondary) and between 1-2 on the primary, but take that with a grain of salt. Could also be high resistance in the wire killing the spark before it reaches the plug.

Edit: Pay no attention to the specs. The more I think about them the less sure I am. I don't want to give you false info. Sorry

Someone with a Gen 5 factory manual should be able to send you a sheet w/the locations of all the ground points.
