is there any "better/best" ecu choices for tuning and/or tuning a boosted application or are all ecu's basically the same and only the calibration makes the difference?

it's a JRSC B16A2 in my 2000 Si. I'm running the basic street kit now (~6psi) with the JR fmu and wiring hack but want to do it up right and up the boost. Just looking for what ecus I should be keeping an eye out for

OBD1 seems to be the best ecu's for programming.

I probably should have been more specific- definitely going OBD1, I meant which ecu specifically would I be best going with. P28's seem hard to find and $$$ since they are in such demand (even tho I have a virgin one in my eg that I can't really use), would I be able to get the same results with a different one?

p28s are a dime a dozen.. there is one here for $100 shipped which is about average price

and why wouldnt you be able to use yours.. just have it socketed and have a chip burned for your app.

I don't quite understand the whole chipping deal. I have an obd1 p30 for a b16 SiRII would I have been better off to get a chipped p28. Just wondering because I sold my old one with the d16z6 I had. Sorry if this is a thread jack.

yea.. you could have had the p28 chipped instead of buying the JDM p30, but dont get me wrong the JDM p30 is a decent ecu itself
