experiment...
yup...go to test and tunes at a local track. focus on 60' times then just coast the rest of the way down the track. you don't have to beat on your car if you are just practicing.

Experiment +1. Get a stop watch and make a short area you can practice in. Have a buddy do the timing and do your best to keep it accurate. Then you can play with a lil tire spin or none at all and see which nets the best results. You can also just goto a test/tune day and practice your launches, but in the road is free

yo

my g no 1 can tell u where 2 launch at only u can cause it's ur car u have 2 figure it out (traction is everything in a launch u can't launch at 7 if u only get traction at 4)

Launching at a set RPM is a problem.

I used to try that at the track but my 60's would suffer. Just rev it high an slip the clutch to where you feel the tires on the verge of breaking, and hold it there untill you start rolling.

Can anybody else comment?

no sir it's not

with my all motor car i launch @9000 and my turbo car i launch @ 4200 WITH NO MSD 2 STEP and it always work fine (like i said traction is everything all motor car the higher the better turbo car @ peak boost) BUT I'M TALKING ABOUT 11/12 SEC CAR SO IF U GUYS TALKING ABOUT STOCK CARS MY FAULT DON'T EVEN CORRECT ME.

ouch! best regards to your clutch!

On shitty no-sidewall tires that fit on steelies, I drop at 3 cuz i'll spin em like shit, then i can't floor it either or i'll just spin em off, just 3/4's the throttle till vtec kicks then let it all hang out. On my Kuhmo's (semi-low profile), I launch at 3500 and floor it from the get-go.

I'm runnin a JDM '95 B16 swapped into an '00 EJ6 coupe. 16" Enkei RS5 rims, Kuhmo Extesa (or w/e) ASX's, cheap, decient tires. Stock clutch now, Action Clutch 2KS sittin in my workbench waitin for a Toda flywheel.

I hold the throttle to keep the rpm at 3k. I have a hondata system installed, but dont have the clutch switch hooked up yet. But then i'll be able to set a rev limit where i want to launch and when i drop the clutch it instantly removes the rev lim, for those of you that didn't know. Google 'launch control' if you have no idea what i'm talkin about. Idk how well that works yet because I havn't personally tested it, but if the Aston Martin DB6 has launch control like me, it must be good shit :D
