Im looking at putting a ZC into my 91 HF. The transmission is on its last leg, and this seems to be the best option to get the car back on the road.
1. ive checked hmotors, total JDM and my local importer, are there any other real good sites to deal with? possibly ones that have the entire motor, tranny, axles and ecu together?

2. How do i shop for parts on the ZC? I am under the impression that anything for the head (and timing belt) will come from a same year integra. and all bottom end (water pump belts) will come from any bottom end D series.

Thanks in advance. hoping to order this week.

most all of the parts for the 88-91 JDM DOHC ZC are the same as USDM D16A6 - the only different parts are the valve train, camshafts, distributor and Cylinder Sensor which are the same as the 88 and 89 USDM Integra D16A1 - the timing belt is the same as 88 Prelude 2.0 Si - camshaft gears are unique to the ZC

Why not try one of the engine suppliers that sponsor this fabulous site?
Like toronto jdm or hmotorsonline, make sure you click the banners at the top and they'll give you a double dose of VTAK ;)

I have a DOHC ZC for sale for 600 if you interested it has an si trans. axles shift linkage mounts harness pg4 ecu? (i think but ill have to go check i forgot) motor was running real strong till i stopped driving it. i got an si shell that i had been working on running. i haven't check the compression but i can if you'r interested.

I actually went through the process of calling all the dealers connected to this website and fished out a few more from searching and found most of them did not have the tranny or did not have the motor set in stock. Even my local importer had the motor (not common for them) but lacked the transmission. Finally, Hmotors came through. I have not ordered the motor yet, but they are getting a shipment soon and guaranteed they would have what i need. They also had the best deal for the total package. They werent sure about the ECU though, but I figure I can find that simple enough.

Is the water pump on a D15 and D16 the same? I just (not four weeks ago) put a water pump on my HF, then the tranny broke. Sounds cheep, but why not, if I have it.

Any other time, I probably would have taken your offer krops, but now more than ever Im interested in getting the lowest mileage possible. (210k was on my HF when the tranny broke last week).

I've heard nothing but good things about hmotors.

same here. Only issue I really had with them was the shipping. If my local importer actually got the EF ZC anymore, it would cost me 2-300 less to get the motor.

Another question involving the ECU. I know the 1.6 civic or integra ECU is best if the ZC ECU cannot be found. is it possible to run it with the HF ECU for a while? or would it be too lean? Im trying to figure out my ECU situation if Hmotors does not get any.

The ZC has higher compression, so I'm sure that it wouldn't run optimally. I'm not sure if it would actually damage your engine, why not just get one from an 88-89 integra?

I dont expect the down time from installation to the new ZC Ecu to be that long, no point in getting the integra one if i dont have to. The ZC ecu wins my vote with a higher redline and it wont run (rich?) like ive been told the integra one will. The car is a must use though because it is a work car. I need it back on the road ASAP.
