I'm in a shitty situation atm and need a new transmission. I have a 2000 honda civic LX sedan with a d16y7 in it. What other years have the same tranny and such? I forgot to write down the model # before taking it out if that would help me. Please help me out if you can, I need one ASAP.
Thanks,
Sean

Every stock tranny from 92-2000 would fit, are you sure? Would any modifications have to be made or are they all identical?

there all the same and all will fit 92-00 all but the 99-00 si

Ok, I've undone every bolt on this damn thing and I still can't get it apart. Is there some sort of spring pin or something that I'm missing?

Should I set it on blocks and hammer the shaft?

This damn import tranny has me confused, I can't get it further apart than this.

It's probably something simple that I don't know or at least I hope. Thanks in advance.

whay are you pulling the tranny apart

This is the old one. I'm opening it because it started jerking on me while going about 85. I was just cruising in fifth, not driving like an asshole. It sheered the axle, broke the seal, and the fluid went everywhere.

I'm opening it up to see if I can fix it for sale or use =P.

There's a snap ring in there. On the "pointed" end there should be a plug about 1" in diameter, use a 1/4" ratchet to remove it. Then you will need snap ring pliers that pull the ring together(it's a expand-type snap ring; holds a bearing to the case). After that, shimmy and shake and the case will come apart.

I know EXACTLY what you're talking about now. I saw it and was like "Wtf is this shit?" at first. Thanks a ton. But of course, I have another question =).

Ok, so if all these transmissions are the same, will their model #'s be the same?
This is mine...

I hit the tag when banging the thing out so you can't read part of it, but the two #'s are "5FE" and "P4A".
