Yep that is the harsh reality of an f4-f5 tornado in the mid west. We have had a couple of towns hit like this since I have been born. Barneveld, Stoughton, Oakfield, Siren - they all looked very similar. The sad part is one of the major cites in the midwest will have that happen in the coming future. Oklahoma, Dallas-FW or Chicago would be devestating. Hell even KC or St. Louis could be hit. I would venture to say that it would be on the scale of Katrina or even worse as there really is no advance warning.

Photo # 20 ... What a WIERD house layout !

And it's predicted this year New York will see landfall of a hurricane. That happened in Hurricane Gloria, my area was knocked out for 2 weeks.

i live in oklahoma and i remember the may 3rd tornado, i was home alone and my mom was calling me and telling me i need to get a bunch of blankets and pillows and get into the bathtub, right after she got off the phone the news said if you arent underground you are pretty much dead. it missed my neighborhood by 1/2 mile.

I don't know why people don't just build sub-terrainian houses out there. Or dome homes. Even if a tornado is a once-in-a-10-year thing for most people. It costs way more to replace two homes, even trailers, than it does to construct one well suited house.

Even Florida homes are pretty buttoned up for hurricanes nowadays. Get with the program !

I had a tornado come 1 foot away from me....well...maybe 3 feet...but it was close....and I didn't piss my pants. and I was a stupid ass and held the glass door so it wouldn't break....

tornadowned ?

:( sucks man... but it happens literally 1000 times a year... i don't know why people don't build better, as stated.

Why would they build better homes when they have FEMA/insurance. They'll just rebuild the same home in the same hazard area, and the money that YOU pay for homeowners insurance will pay for it. Gotta love Socialist America.

FEMA doesn't normally kick in when these areas go to shit. They weren't going to kick in for New Orleans either, but they were forced to.

Eh, doesn't really matter who's insuring these houses, it's the same difference. People who's houses aren't at risk will still be the ones paying so that these fucktards can live in their disposable homes. Insurance is still a form of capitalistic socialism invented by the mafia.

there are a few sub-terrianian homes out here, but they are impractical and extremely expensive. upkeep on them is also a nightmare, the foundations and walls always need to be repaired.

Its no different then the idiots that build their homes on flood plains, paths of hurricanes, fault lines, areas prone to wild fires, avalanches, war zones or the landing zone of a huge meteor.

The point is that people will always build wherever they want. The nice thing about tornadoes is that they are rare in terms of hitting the same spot very often. Where as the same river could flood three years in a row or the same state could have three hurricanes in one year.

Do you ever run out of tinfoil ?
