HPV infection is the cause of the majority of cervical cancers, and 80% of sexually active women can expect to have an HPV infection at some point in their lives.

cuz now chicks have another excuse not to go down :(

dood, everybody knows HPV causes cancer, it's been linked to cervical cancer forever.

Probably not an issue long time. There's already vaccine against HPV

I think that whoever wrote this article, or editted it, or fact checked it, Or even works at this news source needs to be tied to a post and shot in the arm.

This type of Cancer is way more common than this. It's caused by a rash of things, such as Coffee, bubble gum, and usb thumbdrives.

Sensationalism at it's finest. Nothing to see here.

HPV is viral, therefore there's no cure.

Certain strands of HPV are linked with cervical cancer, other strands like warts are not. Lesions on the uterus on the other hand are a beginning sign of abnormal cell growth and the possibility for cancer.

Most guys are HPV carries now a days and don't know they are, because its a strand that has no symptoms or side effects in males, but can be carried and transferred to females who do have the unhappy potential of cancer.

There's a lot of misinformation out there and most people don't understand the "epidemic" of HPV that is going around.

I didn't say cure I said vaccine... as in prevention... in further generations...

My point is that its a viral disease that has many different strands that can highly differ from one another. A vaccine won't stop all of the strands, just ones that are still close enough to whatever strand they're vaccinating for, the other strands that have mutated will be unaffected.

Basically treatment is hit or miss right now, with cryogenic freezing or operation for the particular strand that is thought to cause cervical cancer. The treatment lessens the possibility of child birth, though.

I read up on HPV awhile back and after seeing some of the #s that were posted I wouldn't doubt if I had HPV as with anyone else on this forum.

Best part about it is it may never show up in your system yet you can still pass it on.

yay!

True words. One of the reasons why I know the details so intimately. I had an obgyn accuse myself of cheating on my ex-girlfriend a few years ago, when I certainly had not cheated, but he insisted that I must be lying to her. Thats when all the good details about being a carrying and not knowing it came flowing out.

OBGYN said that? damn they must have been fresh out of the maintenance closet school where Dr Nick Riviera went.

I was fairly livid.

At that time, I could honestly say that I never cheated on anyone in my life and here I was being accused by a guy who I had never met or seen before of cheating on my girlfriend at the time.

She no longer goes to him, as she didn't like the way he treated her and I was livid that he had the balls to accuse someone he had never met of something like that without any proof.
