we just got and 88 crx with a b16a swap running but the v-tec wont work cuz threre is an error code on the ecu the red light blinks 9 times which code is this and if any one knows what to do can you tell me how to fix it? thanks

it the automatic tranny lock up solenoid vakve

code 9 is cyp sensor not valid for trottle bodied cars,, you might have a automatic ecu

i have two ecus ill have to try the other

wound you happen to have a chart that would tell me all the codes for b16a, 5 speed

yea but it would take a long time to type it up but the same chart is here on this very form try the search

thanks for the help, i'll probably run into more problems hope to use you in the future like the quick replies

i went back over the codes and i came up with these three 6,9,10

but they say that nine is not a valid code, so do you just ignore it, and if not how do you get rid of it

well somone has told me recently the the engion is an obd0 motor for japan so would the codes still be the same

all right how do you get rid of code 9, cuz with the code flashing vtec wont work right

i whould try a diffrent ecu
dude, seriously, please don't give suggestions if you don't know what you are talking about. I'm sure you know a lot about hondas, maybe cars in general, but it's obvious that you don't know what you are talking about when it comes to this subject...

ccr88crx - your ECU is fine. Code 9 is a VERY VERY VERY common problem with obd-0 motors. The only way (that i know of) to fix a code 9 is to get another distributor. It's a sensor that usually gets thrown off whack or demagnetized in the shipping process. If you open up the distributor, you will see the magnetic sensor i'm talking about.

Anyway, swapping out your ecu won't help the code 9. Did you get your motor from hmotorsonline.com? if so, call steve and let him know you need a new distributor because the one he gave you is faulty and he'll gladly trade you a good one for your broken one. If you didn't get your motor from there, go here Distributor King : Andale Stores : JDM Distributors and buy a new one. It's kind of pricey but it's well worth it... goodluck
