Accord beats evo

it means nothing, as psi means nothing.

a t88 at 10psi will own your car at 20 psi

the comments say its a gt35 turbo.... which is pretty damn big

psi does mean something, but you have to take into account when(rpm) that psi is kicking. It could be 10 psi across the whole powerband vs. a peaky engine that's 10psi for like 6000-7000rpm.

yeah that makes sense. you know if the accord can be tuned to keep the powerband through a longer rpm range than 4-7k . Or is that about it.

If the turbo doesnt make 10psi at 5k, then it aint gonna at 3k... unless you get a smaller turbo. That isnt something that can is determined by tuning, its about how big the turbo is, how much air your engine is producing (cfm's), the overall flow from turbo to exhaust, etc etc..

Depends on the turbo sizing and efficiency. If you have a close-ratio gearbox(like one from a H22A Type-S), then you don't have to worry as much.

dropped my jaw when the accord stayed in front of the evo
why? I don't see how this is some miracle. i guess it is rare to see a fast accord but you make it seem like you cannot absolutely believe what you saw. Accords can be made to be beat anything... a yugo can be made to beat anything... ect... how crazy would you have gone if you were there to see this race?! YouTube - Hond Civic vs Dodge Viper <--- and this was light years ago lol

just a shocker to see the accord beat an evo . Since I have a built f22 t3t4 at 20psi , I knew it was quick but not ennough to spank something like an evo awd turbo on race gas. And I am looking into swapping the h22 trans on the f block . I was wanting to get the gsr tranny , but havent found any infornation preforming the swap .

I love the comments to that video.

"in the end it's still a civic" <-- that guys pride was hurt because American Muscle lost.

"if the guy with the viper puts half the money into his engine..." <--- he'll have spent over 100k to beat a Civic with maybe 10k into it. lol

Where you are making power means a lot. When you see supra's race, you ever notice how most lag like they have no power then fly right by the other car? That's because they have a huge turbo that really only makes power in the upper rpm's.

I always thought evo's and sti's weren't all that good for drag racing? You have to launch them lightly and they really aren't that great from a roll either.

They're not that great from a roll because the massive drivetrain loss due to AWD.

Turbo lag from a launch can be overcome easier than that.

i have a 05 wrx with about 400hp , launches are not a problem , take off quicker than any honda thats for sure. not to much lag on the turbo either.

ok hold on one question? whats faster ur ricemobile or the wrx?

and for the advantages of awd and no awd and turbo lag

then you are one of those lucky bastards who has close to the perfect setup of your wrx.....

because most of the time when a supra, evo, wrx and even a skyline is racing lag is a big issue....you see it in there faces when they get ready for the start

launch it from a roll and you lose out because of the awd issues (unless sky has had a blown fuse and is now rwd)

The meat of my powerband starts around 3500 and goes on beyond my paltry 6250RPM redline. That's mostly due to the odd camshaft I got ahold of. Once I get my gear adjusted (read: dyno runs), then I might see some power a bit earlier without losing all that nifty top end.

Of course I have an A under my hood versus the F, so our mileages will differ a bit.

I have never raced the two against each other. Due to I dont let anyone drive my cars. Unless you have the money to fix what you break , If anything breaks.

I think my wrx is faster on the take offs , but after 90mph it seems like the power fades. Also I only rev to 6300 vs the accord 7700. I would like to say the accord seems to pull stronger but cant really say which one is better . There almost equal in hp . But the accord has more torque. I dont know !! lol . Another thing is that the accord doesnt had a LSD Diff. Vs awd. I think the wrx might take it , but like i said hard to say unless there running against each other.

Another thing is I bought the wrx the way it sits now. Another person but 20k in it and to be honest I couldnt tell you shit about it , I know thats not good , but let me tell you , there is hardly any lag at all . Shell climb to 90 100mph and then it seems like shes done . I Dont know if the trans way modified or what . Does anyone know what would cause this ?

The accord will hit 120mph and keep climbing with no problem .

*clears throat* isnt that a classic sign of turbo lag?

lol id let my friends drive my car regardless of weither they could pay for it to be fixed or not.....

id be holding there pinkslip whilst racing them :D

and for the race i think it would depend of the distance being raced....

distant lengths would mean different of the outcome.....but different tuning types would also largly come into affect here

my friend raced his evo against another guys wrx just for kicks and the results were supprising (different lengths for track)

evo won the first and last race and the wrx won the last (shortest race by 100meters)

I thought that turbo lag was: I pulled this from another thread.

When shifting into a higher gear the turbo has to catch back up and start spooling faster to catch the up with the motor Rpms. Thus causing a waiting period to achieve full boost. Which creates turbo lag.

So your saying is that the lag in my wrx is coming from running out of turbo to push the car forward.

Anyone want to race me with my car !! Just bring me a title signed of a Vehicle in the value of 30k and you can race me . Lets see how many actually show up ?!?!

Well Race a series of diffferent events , short, long, highway, might do some corners if ya can drive.

if what is in bold came from here then i sit corrected....i might be wrong but then again i probably am....someone correct me the fool i am if i am wrong ^_^ please...

well as ive experienced in the past it may just be how the turbo is set up.... and if the turbo is stock or aftermarket aswell....
