im about to buy a civic and drop an engine in it , i was thinking about a 95 hatch and i think the lightest model is the vx or cx , and i wanted to drop a H22 engine ?
Correct me if im wronge , and any opinion's much appreciated :D

The lightest 92-95s are the CX and VX. They're wonderful shells to throw H22s into. Check out Bisimoto's H to D conversion kits too.

92-93 CXs anv VXs are the same at 2094 lbs .. the 94-95 the CXs got a little fatter and gained like 12 lbs while the VXs stayed the same at 2094

h22?

not for anything but I wouldn't throw an h22 in a hatch because it really messes with the weight transfer when you brake and corner. so from what ive heard if you did it you wouldn't get very good handling out of a car that small regardless of which model hatch you get. but i mean the choice is ultimately up to you personally i would go B18C<-

The H22's don't weigh that much more than a B-series swap(IIRC, with the H2B kits, they weigh about the same...weight difference being in the transmission).

The +96s are indeed heavier but not sure how much. I've seen 2300-2600lbs thrown a lot for that chassis.

yeah the h22 engine and trany , is only like 40 lbs heavy'r , than the b18 c ,

I heard that the H22 have problems with the trany's , has anyone else heard that , because im seriously about to buy that engine

I've never seen a busted H22 transmission, but they're suppose to be more beefier than the B-series transmission. If one ever fails on you, there's plenty of F22 transmissions that can be had for cheap.

h22

another reason not to get an H22 is if your getting one from a 97-2001 Honda Prelude then the cylinder walls are actually made of carbon fiber. You have probably never heard this but they are and under immense pressure of repeatedly racing the car or high performance bolt ons (turbo)the walls have a tendency to warp, you might not believe me but my friend is a Honda technician and they have seen this quite a bit.

They are not CF; they're FRM(fiber reinforced metal). The S2000 uses FRM also. Draw backs is different honing/boring method(if that counts) and you can't use forged pistons.

I don't know, I just read that the service limit is like .75mm overbore or something like that; which implies it can be bored or just honed to death. It should be in the Helms Prelude manual.

Cool. Looks like I just found what kind of '92-'93 EG hatch I want. :)

Anyone happen to know what the roof height differences are between EF and EG hatches?
you worried about head clearance?? i'm 6'2" and i'm riding Prelude seats on EG rails, so i sit higher than your normal EG.. i have no problems w/ head clearance, even in the back seat

looked around and couldnt find shit for info on the 88-91 Civic..
anyways..

Riiiiiiiiiiiight. They handle boost just fine. The sleeves are still made of metal. 350-400whp has been done reliably on the stock sleeve, and in daily driven cars too. The S2000 sleeve (also FRM) handles 500whp+ without any issues at all.

^^^I thought you weren't able to bore out the FRM sleeves and had to replace them instead?

You can run a few sets of pistons in the stock sleeves- not that many, but they are available.

boosted h22's blow up.

I mean not ALL of them....but you WILL eventually get greedy and go for big numbers...
