stupid question on turbo psi

I just bought a b18 with a T3/T4 turbo with a BOV and waste gate. the guy i bought the motor off of said that the turbo is set at 12 psi. i want to go down to 8 or 9 psi how do i do that?

the guy i got the motor from said that all i need to do is replace a spring to a different spring to bring the psi down but, i dont know what this means?

you cant lower the boost lower than what the spring is set at. so yes a new srping is the only way.

The spring is in the wastegate. You're gonna need to educate yourself a little on how turbo systems work before you start playing around with yours.

dear god, be careful when you open up that wastegate... that spring is under a lot of pressure and when you release the clamp that bitch is gonna pop open faster and harder than paris hilton's legs at a naked barn dance.

i think you need a new turbo because if that turbo is set to 12 then you need to get a turbo that is set to 8

Plus the wastegate controls the intake charge pressure.​

well if the spring is set at 12, then u cant drop it unless u change the spring, but i bet its probably got a 7 or 8 pounder in it and he tuned it up to 12, jus get a boost controller in that case
