ok so my battery light has been comeing on, and my car died today... so we jump started it and i ran fine... till the car would just die even driveing it... so i figured it was the alturnater, so i raplaced it with a spare i had and threw in a new battery... and we jumped it, it ran for like 2 mins and it seems to have plenty of charge now, but it died after 2 mins... and it wont start at all now even with a jump... and it turns out im not getting any spark at all now?!... so do any of you have any ideas of how to fix this? is it just a bad alturnater? and would a bad alturnater cause this? plz help... thx
 
aight i got the new altuernater in and i am not getting a spark to any cylinders!? what do i do, plz i rely need my car, an nobodys helped so far... like i said everything was working and the car just died, where should i start?

theres a lot it could be. have the alternator tested, if its good then make sure that you dont ha ve a burnt or cut wire.
as for the no spark. try changing out the dizzy, if a friend has a car like yours then swap it and see, if not get one from a parts store, if it doesnt work you can return it and get a refund.

when you start the car does your check engine light come on? it should come on for at least a second then go off, if it doesnt then that means your ecu isnt cutting on.
 
ok the alternater is good, but the car wont start becuz its not getting a spark... and ya the check engine light is on when i put the key in and turn it, but it wont even start so it dosnt go out... but i check my wires and they all look good... now what?

try changing out the dizzy. what motor do you have?
 
probly around 100 or 150. dunno much about the zc's. but if you get one from autozone or some other parts house then you can return it if you dont need it.
Check all of your ground wires in the engine bay and make sure they are connected, main ones are the one at the froint of the engine block attaches to the front support from the head. the other attaches dowm where the thermostat is under the passenger side of the throttle body (right above the starter) if those become disconnected then youll have no spark.
you still getting fuel?
 
aight i just took apart the dizzy and cleaned it, tomaro ill have to jumpstart the car cuz theres no battery power.. but ill also check all the ground wires and fuel tomaro, and ill let you kno by then whats the deal.. but thx so far
 
I know this same sort of thing happened to my crx
replaced alternator, battery, spark plugs, tested the starter, everything was fine.

had it checked and it had a few burnt wires and i just had those replaced and now its fine
 
aight, so what wires wer burn on ur crx?.. well i checked all my wires and everything is hooked up and i dont think i saw any burnt wires... but i cleaned the inside of the dizzy realy good and its still not getting a spark, the cars turning over fine just no spark at all... could it be my dizzys bad?
 
wow nevermind i fixed it... i feel so stupid, all it was was the alternater fuse... it was burnt out... well thx for all the help guys, greatly appreciated
 
the wires coming from my alternator to my battery were fried. glad you got yours fixed
