I have a guy that wants to trade me a "turbo kit for my D15B7", he has a Garrett T3(he said he would have it rebuilt), a turbo manifold for my motor(but doesn't fit the turbo),downpipe, piping and intercooler. I know I need a FMU and Missing Link, but have never done a turbo. I currently have my head out of my car and just had it "planned", I dont want to go crazy with the turbo but any advice would be great. What else do I need to buy and how do I get the manifold and turbo married up? Thanks in advance, any past experience would be great. I am trading him some stereo stuff, a indash DVD and some old crap I have lying around.

buy it, sell the turbo, and get a turbo to match the mani + something to match your setup, and if your gonna stick with that d-series, then get a dseries vtack build it up on the side for boost, then just do a swap and viola turvbo d series vtec, bseries killer, and i can say that cause i have a gsr, and ive been beat by built dseries turbos :(

What do you mean something that matches my setup? Like I said this is my first turbo and I will only us this car for a weekend'r. I dont really have any performance parts on this at all. I will be getting Skunk2 catback and AEM SRI but other than that only the necessary. I would like to chip my ECU once this is done though. I need a FMU 12:1, and a missing link(Synapse)? This is what I was told anyways, by the guy giving me the "kit".

what kinda power you looking for ? thats always a good starting point, like whats a realistic HP number you looking for ?

I would like to get the most out of my D15B7 without building up the entire motor. I just know how expensive building the internals can get and that when you do one thing there are 2 or 3 counterparts needed. I was thinking of running maybe 7or8 pounds of boost? Does that sound doable? Would cams be something to look into maybe? But maybe around 180HP would be nice or is that out of reach?

Has anyone had any luck with SYNAPSE missing link's? I was told if I would go that route that SYNAPSE is the only one that actually works. What are my other options, I have heard HONDATA is not the way to go. Any advice before I go blowing money would be appreciated, thanks....

Yup, my advice is don't buy it..save up and buy a REAL kit, where everything is there and will fit together. And don't do FMU..if your gonna be boosting a b7 you need true fuel management like crome, hondata, aem, etc. And don't exceed 7-8psi or say goodbye to your rods and ring-lands.

Thanks for the different opinions, I would like to do it right so I am not constantly messing with it to keep it running. It will be a weekender only though, is HONDATA the way to go, like the S100?

Free? You mean the software, I would still have to buy a chip burner though? I guess I could use the one I have at work if I need too....

Does anyone happen to know a "good tuner", that can dyno and burn a chip for me anywhere near the Iowa-Minnesota border? I am guessing I will get a few votes for Chicago but that is about an eight hour drive. Minneapolis or Des Moines would be good they are only about two hours.
