i have a gsr and my friend want me to swap and put a b16 head that it is pnp with type r cams and pistons will this give me more hp or not and with that will i still have oil problems like the ls vtec does?

no you would have the oil problems, but if you just did the ITR cams and a diferent intake manifold cuz from what everyone that ive talked to said there isnt that much difference from the b16 head and the GSR head

youve got several options, buy a gsr motor running fine and you wont have to do anything extra as of stock, if you have a LS motor, you could yes put that b16 head on there, but mind you, your gonna spend more money making it a ls/vtec, and taking a chance on your bottom end shitting on you, or running into oil problems, OR you could just SAVE all that money, and boost the LS, which is prolly the BEST way to go, and THEn later on down the road if you want, pull that worn out LS motor, sell is, buy a gsr motor and have it boosted :) simple as pie, sweet hot cherry pie

I say put the b16 head on the gsr block and put the type r cams and pistons in it. From what i understand, they call this a poor man's type r. I say do this. Not many people do it. Something different. You shouldn't have problems with oil because the block is already set up for vtec and the oil pump is strong enough for your vtec oil pressure.

ya the b16 head flows better then a b18c head, but the b18c head from what ive read makes more hp and tq then the b16 head would, but idk, i havent done this, im the kinda person to stick with motor he has and build it, im not going all crazy swapping heads, and shit like that

well im happy with my b18b. i build off what i have as well and its doing pretty damn good for me. im able to eat a good number of vtec motors and even stock jdm type r's. one thing to consider is that you have companies (toda) that disengage the vtec to allow for quicker rotation of the cams because it weighs less and the rotating mass is not so heavy, but it still puts down some serious power. thats why some have the vtec killer camshafts.

Use the gsr head with the itr cams and get a skunk 2 intake manifold, it will sove the flow problems of the gsr intake manifold, the b16 head is ok, and is a good starting point, but you will definately get more compression from a gsr head.

GSR's heads are good too. For cams use the ctr intake cam and the itr exhaust, they say this is a very good combo. Put some valve springs and retains and a good port and polish head. With this work done, vtec will more than likely scream harder and pull harder. I have an Accord with an h22a swap in it and I love the sound of vtec. I'm going this weekend to get the exhaust side of my head port and polished and my throttle body.
