I have an 89 CRX Si and the cooling fan won't turn on. I've checked the fuse under the dash, tested the relay, tested the fan motor, checked the temp sensor and still nothing! What the heck?! Why else won't the fan turn on--even when the temp guage is 3/4 the way to H? Is this something I can fix on my own (with the shop manual)? I really need some help on this one.

My 90 CRX was doing the same thing. No matter wat the motor temp was it never tunred on. And it got almost all the way at the top so I just ran the power and hooked it up to a switch so I run it wen need. Good to have so wen racing you can have it on constant.

I was hesitant to go that route, but that sounds like the most cost-effective solution in the meantime. Can you give me a step-by-step procedure for that Is ef? What supplies should I pick up?

Thanks nootrac22. That was actually the first thing I checked. I wanted to rule out replacing the motor. Any other ideas?

i would start by checking the cooling fan switch on the back of the block - unplug the connector and jumper the 2 wires - turn ignition on and fan should come on - if it does, replace the cooling fan switch - if it doesn't, go to the cooling fan relay on the passenger side inner fender panel behind the headlight and check it - besides the fan itself and the fuse, those are the only things in the system

are the plugs side specific? mine is hooked up but the fan still wont turn on

will your fans come on when you turn on your a/c? If not you have a ground problem. the ground wire is right above the right head light housing. your a/c
relay and cooling fan relay work together with a diode for the a/c compressor.

i had a 90 hatch and when i bought it the fan didnt work i skipped all the bs and wired it to a toggle switch and it worked fine...i have a 91 hatch now and the fan works but i bet sooner or later ill have to put a switch on it

Does anyone know the Part numbers for the Fan Relay and the cooling fan switch? I have a 89 ZC motor in a 90 Civic Hatch. Not sure what parts to get. I removed the two wires from the switch in back of the block and jumped them. Then I started hearing the clicking and located the relay. But the fan didn't come on when I jumped the two wires. I tested the fan and it works really well. So I'm suspecting the relay, but not sure now to test it. If you can email me at mick_e_smith@hotmail.com. New to the forum thanks in advance.

if you have a helms manual there is the testing of the relay in the electrical section of that manual
