Are they any good? they seem to run around $900 or so.

you have to be more specific. there are 235234534 turbo kits for sale on ebay.

XS Power or SS Autochrome suck balls, please sticky something about this crap :)

Someone on the DSM boards was working with a customer who bought one and got it put on their car. Everything kept up for about half a year and 4000 miles until the retaining nut on the compressor wheel came loose and nuked the turbo.

Is that mostly b/c they use shitty quality turbos?

Maybe I'll just look into piecing one together with DSM parts.

They haven't opened the turbo up to find out what exactly caused the failure, but the speculation is that the smart guys that designed the knockoff turbo used a retaining nut that rotates the same way as the direction of the compressor wheel or something to that effect.

Knock off Turbo? I didn't know there was such a thing.

How much should I expect to pay for a used or rebuilt turbo, like a t3 ot t3/t4? $400? $500?

Thanks,

Speaking of Turbo's..is there a particular turbo you would recommend, I was looking at t3/t4 b/c I see alot of other ppl using them, but if there is a better suggestion for a mild B18b setup I'd like to hear it.

Cheers,

.48 AR for quicker spool, .63 or larger for more top end performance at the sacrifice of a lil lag. 50 or 57 compressor wheels are popular, I like the 50.

Honda guys seem to all have great luck with the 57 trim over the 50 where as the DSM guys just get more lag and similar airflow. The hot side sizing advice above is good, but I'd still go with a .63 A/R if you see it as more of a street/strip car than just a fun daily driver. With the way Honda heads flow and how high you can rev, the .48 would just serve as a restriction up top.
