Theory...

Intakes work to increase airflow...and HP

Hypothesis...

Increased airflow pressure should improve airflow

Experiment...

An extractor fan pulling/pushing air through the intake, creating a vacuum

Outcome...

NO CLUE i thought of this while i was semi-asleep

Ill dyno tune B4 and After the experiment and tell you how it went...

did it improve the HP? or neglible? im going to bed, thanks for the reply

if u can find any data on the experiment tell me..

the laws of physics give rise to the arguement it would work

im not talking about a turbo, if i were i;d say that, im talking about cold air intakes

Dont knock leaf blowers. Thats dyno proven hp right there!

If you are talking about an electric fan in the intake, it can work, but it takes a retardedly powerful electric motor to push air and create boost. They have electric versions of turbos (note: Not that ebay piece of crap) But those turbos are like $1500 and they cant produce anywhere near the boost of a traditional turbo. That, and they draw rediculous amounts of power.

actually i was looking at my motherboard fan when the idea came to me lol... hey its an EXPERIMENT remember haha i never said there'd be any viable application...
i think the fan was in the same shape (dimensions) as the intake pipe, so i figured to insert it 1/2 way up and see the outcome... anyway bed for me, got work in 6hrs

That fan would just cause restriction and a loss of HP. Its nowhere near powerful enough, and its the wrong design, you cant produce any boost with that style of fan.

thanks for the input, ill take that on board, and thats debatable, it depends on the size of the fan wings and the speed of air being forced through...

sometimes lifes about having fun, it wont harm anything

modifying is about experimenting and seeing what works best for each application, why should we all follow a book or pay a mechanic

this would act just like a Tornado.. which does absolutely nothing

Ever dyno'ed a car before and after with a tornado. The little POS i thought did absolutley nothing did something. My car dropped 10ft/lb of torque when we did a run without it. Not saying its a 40 hp bolt on but it does something to the air. Either that or my fans kicked on during the last pull and the engine lagged because of it.

2nd point taken, However, it depends on the angle and vacuum effect of the fan as u have a dual pull/push flow, and besides i have alot of spare time on my hands now that im on uni holidays and just because something was done 20yrs ago and failed doesnt mean it cant be done today and succeed, that arguement would have eliminated Hybrid engines.

and... the Speed at which air flows must be taken into affect, ur assuming the cold air intake brings in air at a constant speed with increases based upon acceleration and forwards movement, my arguement is however is that is these increased good to created artificially without the associated engine acceleration then HP May increase, it may not eh, but im in a Mad Scientist mood so what the hell :p

Think Aeronautics or jetboats with water flow

frustrating, damn you people replied faster than i could

I have never heard of a tornado btw

note*? link?

fuck, can you get any more negative? theres always possibilties..... and if im 100% wrong and theirs no improvement im fine conceding defeat, but physics says that its possible, so we'll see

This reminds me of a guy that wanted to rout his a/c into his intake. Pointless to do cause he had to run the a/c to make the cold air. He was using up the power he was making and ending up rite back where he started.

now thats funny...
though you could run your A/C through your intake as a str8 through pipe, similar to how a freezer works but you'd only get the advantage of extra cooling when your aircon was actually active and as you said the power you make you lose... at least it would be nuetral lol

Dont worry about the negativity man. Ive found that forums can be great but can also be full things you may not agree with. You have to overlook what you can. I once thought about a electric supercharger but the more i thoguth about it the more stupid it got. The thing cant have a big motor in it. Chances are if someone did use this thing the only thing it would do was make better gas milage at idle, once youre at WOT the intake flow pulls harder from the engines compression more than those things will ever spin on their own, eventually youll just burn the brushes in the electric motor up and itll stop working. Itll be like taking a xmod(rc car) and doubling the power, yeah its gonna go faster but for how long? Good luck though.

im not stressing about the negativity, it doesnt really phase me, theres alot of tweaks things can do, if i really got any increase of out of it, id have to work out some of the electronics issues in order to counter any damage that might be sustained. cars are fun to play with for a reason, lifes not over if things break... :p

who ever said anything about hating?
i got better things to worry about that whether you 'hate' or not lol

actually theory says it does work, where as practical application May not... as in the laws of Perpertual Motion.. Theory Says Yes while Practice Says no...

dont assume your talking to someone who lacks a strong grasp of physics and understands how wind work... the reason im pursuing this is because simply "Engines are not magic, what works in Aviation and Sea travel May have some benefit to driving, and besides like i said at the start "experiment" i never said this would even work, but fuck me, when i was in 10th grade physics they still made us carry out failed experiments.

and for the Wiseman comment, a wiseman takes a look at Who made the original mistakes and seeks to solve these, IF a wiseman deems the experiment impossible and ridiculous beyond all reason on paper he will look elsewhere... so what am i? you havent shown me One peice of evidence or any articles to say its not possible? so my question is... who said the original experiment wasnt flawed...
