hey guys check it out.

trying to locate the "injector" on the 305 5.0 sierra. any ideas? is it under the throttlebody?

we have spark, air and fuel.... compression. wont start. new fuel filter and a fuel line. pressurized fuel coming out of the bleed valve at the manifold. tested the MAF and other things.

any help would be great. <3

ooook so we figured out if we dump gas into the throttlebody it fires.

how do i check fuel pressure?

where the fuck is that injector?

Wait, are 98's Throttle Body Injected? If so, the incector is just above the throttle plate.
If it's a vortech engine, then the injectors are on the Intake mani above each intake port on the head.

yup, its a vortec. 8 injectors :(

sigh. i guess the injectors arent the problem.

what can i do to check fuel pressure? it says 60-66lbs... when you push the bleed valve i sure dont feel that much pressure :)

open the throttle plate, you cannot smell gas even when the engine is cranking. is there something electrical i'm missing? something that causes the injectors to fire?

Are you sure the fuel pump is wokring correctly? I know that 98's had a lot of problems with the fuel pumps going

it was replaced within the last 4 years...

fuck that full size chevy website. i've been waiting on an activation email for two days.

definately gotta be the pump. when you turn the key it powers on for ~5 seconds and shuts off...

Try changing the fuel pump. I'm sure that's the problem.

For future reference, on GM vehicles you don't always have to REPLACE the fuel pump. I'm not sure what the exact years were, but a LOT of the GM's over the last several years have had fuel pump issues with the pumps freezing up. Usually, getting under the vehicle and beating on the gas tank right where the fuel pump is will free them up and allow the vehicle to run properly. You can locate the approximate location of the pump by following the fuel pump wiring pigtail along the side of the tank, and where it goes above the tank a few inches in is where the pump is located. It's rare (but not unheard of) for it to require a new pump.

Just my .02 :)

word.

we did that. always always bang on electronics as a last resort

Fa sho! We've had a couple of our GM used cars come back with 'no start' complaints...put 'em up on the rack, whack the pump with a prybar, and send 'em out the door. Haven't seen a single one come back yet :)

lucky!

klyph - yeah, we changed it.

never again. fuck trucks. its a 98 and shit was rusted to fuck.

Yup... Banging the gas tank usually fixed my blazer...

That, or the poppet valves are going bad... IIRC the 305 uses poppets as well..> THEY SUCK.
