b18b in an ef

I just pulled my d16 out and chose the b18b for replacement and I have some questions:

1.) What axles are needed? Hasport sells axles for the b18 into an EF application, but can I just get a pair from my local junkyard from a teg? or do they need to be specialized like the one hasport sells. The Hasport axles are expensive as hell: http://hasport.com/shop/produc...d=105

2.) I was looking at the thread where people bought there motors from, but the poll seems a little out dated. I'm debating between HMO and Sohfast. I've heard good things about HMO, but Sohfast seems to be also popular.

HMO sells both the JDM and USDM b18b:
30007 - B18B 94-01 (LS) Complete Change Over
145Hp 127Trq 9.4 Compression (JDM)
142Hp 127Trq 9.2 Compression (USDM)

3.) Besides compression ratio, what are the differences between JDM vs. USDM?
JDM claims to produce 3 more WHP, does it have different internals?
Which would have lower mileage/less wear and tear? I assume I would have to use 93 octane with the JDM motor correct? As opposed to USDM where I can use 87?
What do you guys recommend, JDM or USDM?

4.)Transmission: S80 vs Y80. Correct me if I'm wrong but S80 is USDM and Y80 is JDM?
So if I get a JDM b18b, it comes with a Y80 tranny. And if I get a USDM b18b it will come with a S80 tranny?
Any major differences?
I know JDM trannies tend to have short gears, and this is mainly going to be a DD, will see the autoX/drag every now and then.

5.) My shopping list so far:
-HMO complete change over: http://hmotorsonline.com/shop/sc2000search.cgi?what=page&item=30007
-Hasport EFB2 Mount kit with Hydro to Cable conversion: Hasport Performance Online Store
-Hasport EF to B shift linkage: Hasport Performance Online Store
-Hasport EF to B axles, (or teg axles from local junkyard, see question 1): Hasport Performance Online Store

Am I missing anything? What are these for?:
Hasport Performance Online Store
Hasport Performance Online Store

6.) Wiring:
I'm more than likely going to be using Rywire. Do I send my EF harness and the new LS harness to Rywire? Or just one or the other?

-I think that's everything. Any information is appreciated, can't have enough knowledge. Thanks in advance.

Pretty sure you just need teggy axles, but id wait for one of the civic guys to back me up on that.

The CR and the ECU(?) are the only differences...dont ask me where that extra compression comes from.

HMO is where most people get their engines because Steve will do everything in his power to make sure your deal ends happily...and once the deal is done....youll be his advertising (like i am now).

3.) Besides compression ratio, what are the differences between JDM vs. USDM?

nothing really...id say your more likely to get a USDM with more miles, but other than that, i cant think of anything.

JDM claims to produce 3 more WHP, does it have different internals?

Not to my knowledge

Which would have lower mileage/less wear and tear?

its more likely the japanese motor would have fewer miles on it due to the fact that most japanese engines are pulled after the car fails inspection...generally in the area of 40-60,000 miles.

I assume I would have to use 93 octane with the JDM motor correct? As opposed to USDM where I can use 87?

Nope, both use 87 happily.

What do you guys recommend, JDM or USDM?

Thats a "six of one half dozen of the other kinda question"...i dont think it really matters

Got nothing on these questions....its kinda late and all the words are running together.

you seem to have all the correct info. the tranny doesnt really matter, ls trannys are geared more for dd, higher ratios, slower but better for interstate and whatnot. jdm or usdm. bout the same, may be minor diffs.

integra axles are what you need.

i dont think you should have to send it to rywire bc the main part of converting the harness is to convert from dpfi to mpfi, if yours is an si then you dont have to worry bout that. but im not entirely sure of the sensor differences of obd0 and obd1. may have to wire up a few.

if you go obd1 you'll need a jumper harness, runs about $110 from rywire.
make sure you get the obd1 engine bc its much better than obd0 and i think obd2
is harder to swap to from obd0 (i may be wrong)

the two parts you dont know about: the first link shows the drivers side motor mount bracket, it should come with the engine, i guess sometimes they dont. so i wouldnt worry about that.
the second link: goes to the rear mount bracket that you will need to do this swap. your swap may come with this since it is a integra motor, if it doesnt then you can pick one up at a junkyard, cheaper.
so when you buy the motor ask if it comes with that rear mounting bracket, they will know. but the upper one usually always comes with the swap.

I have teggy axles on mine and they work fine. I thought about the hasport axles, but they are way too expensive.
