Pick 2:
Low Cost
High Horsepower
Very Reliable

Go from there
Low Cost, Very Reliable: Keep the stocker
Low Cost, Very Reliable: Do a D16Z6 Head, or motor swap
Low Cost, High Horsepower: Boost the Stocker *you need ALOT to do a reliable turbo setup though, it can add up very quickly
Low Cost, High Horsepower: D16Z6 Headswap, Boost it. Again, You can half-ass a turbo and get plenty of power, but you will pop something sooner or later
Low Cost, High Horsepower: Juice it
High Horsepower, Very Reliable: GSR B18C Swap
High Horsepower Very Reliable: B16 Swap
High Horsepower, high cost: K20, K24, B20Vtec swap,

I'm just throwin some stuff out there, I'm not going to reply to anyone arguing about my post, just FYI, just what I have read, and researched about, so noone be stupid please.

how did you get the first letter of every word capitalized?

oh, if you want a simple/cheap/quick build.

ls b18b swap
skunk2 coilovers
intake/header/exhaust
brembo blank rotors with hawk hp pads

how much hp does a stock b18b engine drop?
wouldn't a Z6 be a bit easier to deal with?

i stock b18b will put you in the 120-130 hp to the wheels.
a z6 will put you around 100hp to the wheels. the b18b has wayyy more torque though.

but yes, the z6 would be way easier to swap in.

well i did want to go GSR maybe....
what can i do with the ls b18

it has relatively the same amount of torque, but has about 20 more hp to the wheels. it will cost about $1000 more than the ls. for that much, you could turbo the ls engine.

well now i was talkin to someone else and the told me that i should swap a CRV motor and work from there....
the crv motor sucks. it doesnt' rev for shit and the manifold is too tall for an eg.

b16 or b18 is your best best.

He's in California- head swaps are out of the questions, as are turbochargers on top of non-factory setup engine swaps. The only turbo setup he can run is on a D engine in the car.

The board auto-corrects all-capitals to every first letter capitalized.

That's why you swap the intake manifold to a B18B. The CR-V engine revs the same as any other non-VTEC B18.

Anyway, I don't think the B20 is an option in California.

if he swaps a b16 and gets it BAR'd i'm sure he can run a turbo kit for a Del Sol VTEC as long as its CARB legal.. i'm looking into the same thing

get the motor BARd first, then slap the CARB legal kit on.. smog tech looks for carb info and BAR sticker.. done and done

haha i guess its a good thing my friend is a Smog tech........
well i want to get my lower end work done first so any ideas
on coilovers and a nice 4 disc setup

Do you have any idea how much trouble your friend can get into? Ask him how big the fine will be for him to smog your illegal setup. Did you catch were 10 cars will illegal engine swaps/builds got crushed a week or two ago? The State's getting serious.

:werd: keep it legal y0... it'd suck to see your shit get impounded

Saw a quick news clip on that before bed and I was on the verge of real tears.

Looks like I need to get the rules for CA smog nailed down for my ride before I do anything serious to the motor.
:(

Initiating research....*now*.
