ok...for those of you who read my last post, the person who bought my car had a minor accident (beat up pass. door and fender) and is going to GIVE me the car back instead of buying it from him. here is my problem, i want to do the swap my self, and it will be my first ever and my first time doing any engine work period. i want a B18C that will require minimum rewireing and modification. i am going to build the engine myself from the bottom up using all parts necessary for turbo if i decide to down the road. its a 95 4 door civic, and here are my engine choices...which one would be the eastiest or direct bolt in without having to much wiring?
First Choice: http://www.hmotorsonline.com/shop/sc2000search.cgi?what=page&item=30011

Second Choice: http://www.hmotorsonline.com/shop/sc2000search.cgi?what=page&item=30009

what i mean by little wiring is put the motor and ecu in and use the harness thats already in the car:ph34r:. i know the v-tec has to be wired tho. if neither one of these engines can do that, which one will require the least wiring in that car, and how hard is wiring to actually do:confused:?

Thanks Alot for your input and advice

the itr and gsr were made for different years. they are also different motors. you need to decide if you want a gsr or itr swap first. then we can suit the eyar engine for your car.

but of those two, the better swap would be your second choice.

is there a straight swap ITR for the 95? i cant seem to find one or any info on it.
There wasn't an ITR in 1995. It started in 1996. you need to decide if you want an ITR swap or a gsr swap still.

as i've said, im new to this and would like something simple, that is a nice place to start and learn. do you personally think that it would be any easier for the 95 grs swap over the 96 itr? the itr is obd2 right? and my car is obd1 as is the 95 gsr, am i correct? if im right then the gsr would be easier?

yes, you are correct.

since your car is obd-1, you should find an obd-1 swap. it's not a whole lot more difficult to do obd-2, but it just depends on what you are looking for. the ITR will generally be newer with less miles, and has more power. the gsr is a little older and easier to install and cheaper.

have fun and good luck.

The ITR is a better motor, but costs twice as much.

The GSR is a great engine.

get the gsr swap with OBD1 ecu I just did the same swap in my 92 SI and it was simple.. by far the easiest swap oyu can do.. only thing you have to do is run your knock sensor and your IAB and Vtec if oyur car doesnt already have it.. if oyu get the JDMB18c you will have to use your stock wiring harness of your D because the JDM one will be off a RHD and evertyhign will be opposite.... if oyu have any question feel free to Pm me

ok, ive decided to go with the 95 Gsr. i know the people on this site dont like people who like to be spoon fed info, but i really dont know where to start with this engine, its all new to me. i spend at least 3-4 hours a day reading stuff online:eek:. my goal is 250 hp with turbo. what will i have to do to achieve these goals?

Thanks for the help

so get a b18c full swap, put it in the car and put a turbo on it and ill have no problems wit an all stock motor with a turbo? how much boost can a stock gsr run?

a compression test can only be done with the engine installed and running rite? whats a leak down test? all the bearings in the engine are easiest done with the engine out? and finally, what do u mean by a full ignition tune up? like check the timing, new plugs and wires?
Thanks for all the great advise, i wouldnt have known where to start:redface:. I was gonna strip the block bare and replace all the internals with new ones and anything on the outside that would have been needed to be replaced.that would have been probally a waste of time and money which can be spent on a better turbo setup now:ph34r:.
