I've searched through 500 threads and I couldn't find this answer: Like the title says, what is the most power a stock GSR timing belt can handle before it starts having problems? I'm refering to breakage or anything.
 
You shouldn't have any problems. I made 300ish whp on an AutoZone belt, and I've made upwards of 200 more than once on the same AutoZone timing belts.

There is NO reason to shell out the cash for one of those retarded-ass Kevlar belts.
 
Well, that's good to hear. However, I plan on making closer to 400-450 hp. Everyone know I'll be safe?
 
I wouldn't say concerned as much as I would say curious. It would be the same thing as someone asking how much power a stock GSR block can handle before he needs sleeves or a Dart block. I don't recall anyone responding if they are concerned then just get a new block.

I dont know the exact numbers. I was reading in a thread about 2 months ago . Guy had a boosted gsr. Dyno pulled 540some whp . He was saying something about OEM Headgasket OEM timing belt. I know they will hold 400hp . Just dont know the breaking limit. I would get a new OEM before pushing the car to 500hp .

That's what I was looking for. I should be fine. I'll just have to make sure I don't turn the boost up too far.

Timing belt doesn't see "HP", so you can't judge it on that. Rather, it's the mileage, RPM, and cam profile.

So horse power has nothing to do with the strenth of the timing belt . hmmm

Hmmm. Looks like I do, too. So the torque exerted through the belt has no affect on it? Interesting.
