whats the best stuff to use to remove that sticky crap the emblems leve behind on your car without hurting the paint and finsh

At the dealership I work at we use an aerosol spray called Acry-Solv, it's a pre-sand in a green spray can with white lettering. I haven't ever seen it in stores, it can more than likely be found at paint suppliers or automotive stores... it is the absolute SHIZNIT. Better than GooGone, GoofOff, WD40, Acetone, you name it...we use it for taking the stickers off new OEM windows and removing other dealership's emblems on the used cars.

it's paint-safe, so it isn't going to destroy your paint like some of the abrasive adhesive removers out there. It also doesn't leave an oily film like GooGone or WD40 does.

I've personally got about 5 cans in my garage that I stole from work. It's that good.

edit: didn't mean to sound like some sort of salesperson...lol...but it really is the fucking bomb diggity.

ill have to try and get some of that but if not im stuck with autozone

my accord had tint on the windows that started to come off so i peeled it off, tryed goo gone (sucked) then I used carb cleaner. started lifting the glue imeaditly. i only had to wipe it with a rag and it came right off, no elbow grease. don't know what it would do to clear coat though

goo gone FTL

Get 3M adhesive remover, its in a black and gold can. They sell it at Advance and Auto Zone. This stuff is the shit. It really takes the glue off and without rubbing the snot out of it. It also leaves the paint nice and shiny when you're done.

Nope, there is a closely guarded secret. It a large eraser-wheel like item that chucks into a drill. It is the absolute best for removing adhesives, badge residue, pinstripes, etc. Its quick and it doesn't harm the paint.

Go to a shop that sells automotive paint and ask them about it. They run $13 here, but they are worth every penny. I wish I knew the name of it.

Think of a grinding wheel that you would chuck into a drill.. It looks just like that, but instead of a grinding wheel, its a rubber eraser wheel.

You need to be careful with that thing!!! We tried that thing on my Matrix when I removed the strip on the rear bumper lip to protect it when loading shit in the trunk....anyway, if you hold that wheel there for a second too long or press to hard it will burn the paint right off!!!

It does work well but it's not idiot proof.

well i got a can of 3M adhesive remover and it didnt do a dang thing lol, so i asked my girls grandpa about it he ows a body and paint shop and he said just bring it by. he took it off with normal paint thinner with 2 swipes lol, i guess i should have just asked him to start with. he also had that big ass eraser thing for a back up.

DuPont makes a bad ass wax and grease remover, think it's called rm3900. Don't know for sure about the rm part, but I know it's 3900. We use it at the shop I work at all the time for crap like that.
