Black Box in Cars

The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board recently
divulged they had covertly funded a project with the
U.S. auto makers for the past five years whereby the auto
makers were installing black box voice recorders in
four-wheel drive pickup trucks and SUV's in an effort to
determine, in fatal accidents, the circumstances in the
last 15 seconds before the crash.

They were surprised to find in 40 of the 50 states the
recorded last words of drivers in 61.2% of fatal crashes
were, "Oh Shit!"

Only the states of West Virginia, North Carolina, South
Carolina, Louisiana, Georgia, Arkansas, Alabama,
Mississippi, Oklahoma and Texas were different, where 89% of the final words were: "Hold my beer, I'm gonna try somethin.":D

eh. not too funny.

but they have started putting a "black box" of sorts in newer model cars.
im pretty sure the new vetts have them. i read an article about a really bad wreck and the teens (they had daddys vett) said that they just lost control. they checked the recorder and it told their speed at collision and recoreded the acceleration. needless to say it proved that they were streetracing.

serving life for the woman and child they killed.

it records everything... not just what's listed above. Now with the drive by wire systems it's very easy to tell HOW much throttle you're giving, but yes... the black box isn't new. it's for 'safety.' and also for other reasons: 'I need a new motor, this one blew up' 'What happened?!' 'I dunno' :checks box: finds a misshift into 2nd and 12k was recorded. Now Honda won't pay for it. (true story, but didn't happen to me)

last time i got in a wreck the black box recorded me saying,

"you were suppose to swallow that, stupid bitch"

Yes, I told that Honda story before.

Client of my father who owns a Honda dealership, had a father buy a RSX Type S for his young son. Less than 1,000miles later the engine had blown. They flatbedded the car back to the dealership and wanted a new warrantied car. They pulled the black box and found that the kid redlined the car in every gear and was bouncing off the rev limiter.

The dealer wasn't going to foot the bill for a $25,000 mistake by the kid, because there was no way that Honda was going to factory warranty the car.

I wasn't referring to you, though. It was an owner of an s2k. He supercharged it, raced a porsche, and blew the engine during a misshift. We replaced his motor at the shop. I asked him how, he told me the story.

HAHAHAHHA i thought it was pretty damn funny myself, maybe its cause i live in Texas, and that last part is so tue

It's just not a good joke from the start - a government funded project for the auto industry? They never actually do shit with our money...
