its a B20 block with a sir(b16) head and trany

I was wondering what the setup would be worth ?

and if I should jus avoid it because i heard that you can run into alot of problems with it .

and some of the pro's and con's

I know it puts out about 175whp and 150wtourque

anyone framiliar with these type motors ?

i wanna make 300 to the wheels, and right now i have the choice of a b18c5 type R or the crv block b16 head, with b16 trany , not sure which is better but i think it will be cheaper with the crv ?

yes b20 is cheaper you could put all that togather and then get exhuast, then turbo then some sort of fuel mangement system

even on a usdm model, there compression is like 10: 5 i thought ?

yeah only 1 psi tho so there no point

Wow, what wonderful misinformation...

You can turbo a B20/VTEC without any problems.

As far as reliability- if you take your time building it PROPERLY (just like any other engine) and don't cut corners, your B20/VTEC can be just as dependable as any other engine that you put together. Mine lasted for 45k miles of HARD driving and only let go because I did something stupid with it. Even then, the main bearings came out looking like new.

thanks , good to know,
but i was wondering about the b18c5 type R though, can you run boost on that engine on with stock internals?, or is there a bunch of work needed to be done to the motor in order to run a turbo?, and if so what does need to be done ?

oh and thanks for the reply by the way ;)

Yes, you can- but your tuning window is much smaller because of the higher compression. If you're a good tuner, you don't need to go inside. Over 400whp has been made on the B18C5 under boost with no internal modifications- but again, that's with REALLY good tuning.

really, thats so interesting , because ive heard the exact opposite from so many people, thats jus goes to show that a great tuner can make a Huge difference

i dont beleive it eitherbecause ive heard the stock rods cant hold past 14psi with 9.5 c/r

Unless you already have the type R motor, id just boost an LS. You dont want the b16 tranny if your gonna boost, the LS tranny is ideal for boost, plus with the price of a type R motor, you can build an LS motor up pretty decent.

yea , i dont know about those ls/vtec motors, i think id rather build a gsr motor for turbo, jus seems like a better choice, only because i see alot of the top drag racing civic's run b18c and h22 and some b16
