Its been a while since being here, so I figured I would stop by and say whats up.

The last time I posted alot was last summer while doing a swap on a prelude that I bought with a blown engine, and put an H22 in there. Well I still have it, it sucks. Main relay is shot but it still runs strong. Really, to me, a car isn't really anything special anymore. Don't get me wrong, I still love cars, and I want an evo, but right now I don't care.

Now to what I have been up to.

School life: I just finished up my third year at Michigan Tech. I've been doing real well, and managed to make deans list this last semester with my highest GPA ever (3.8ish). I decided to take on a Co-op and now work at Denso North America, doing material testing (I am a materials engineering student. They pay pretty good, but its rather boring with a lot of lab work. The co-op is from summer to the end of December. I will be missing out on one class that I need so I am basicly going to have to stay another year, but I don't mind since I will be able to take a MUCH lighter load.

Now for what I have really been up to. As a few know, I started road biking a few years ago. I was doing a group ride up at school and one of the riders asked who I raced for, I said I didn't and he was shocked and said that I would do great and move up to his class real fast. So I started racing. First event, I pulled in around mid pack. Next few events, I pulled in top 5 positions.

I started trying to find all the fast group rides around the area. I randomly found this one when stopping into a shop one day and the owner said they had a fast ride that night. I show up, and managed to drop everyone except for one other rider. I still show up to the rides and now a few more are sticking with me and they love the challenge. Another ride I go to, there are faster people, but I'm still the one normally stepping up the pace.

So one of the riders asked me if I ever MTB. I haven't been on a trail in probally 7 years, and never competitively. He says that I am beyond fast on a road bike, and asked if I would enter a race if he found me a bike. The race was today. I was hopeing that there would be a ton of climbing since I'm a great climber on the road. Unfortinately there wasn't with a TON of technical secitions. None the less, I felt like I was doing OK, and was passing a bunch of people. I finish my lap, and it turns out I pulled in the same times to up to 3 minutes faster then guys who have been racing for years. They asked me to race for them next weekend, so I might have to make another big purchase pretty soon.

That's awesome! :) Looks like you've been busy! At least you're not busy doing what most of the others have... makin' babies!

nice man. i raced mtn bikes back when i was 14-17. my best ever was 13th out of 72 in sport class. i did a little down hill too, but was never very competeive... kinda hrd to be when i had a xcountry bike competing with all the guys on down hill dual suspension bikes.

any $ involved in the racing or is it pretty much just recreational?

I wish. So far, my biggest prize has been a hat for Subaru/Gary fisher MTB team hat from a Road racing event lol. I am going to be moving up a class here pretty soon, so the prizes go up a little bit to maybe $100 purse. I've been doing it just for the fun and competition.

Although, I did just make a big bike purchase that some may ugle over...

I am thinking of building it with Dura Ace Components, my current wheels (Dura Ace wh7700's) however I have to keep my current gear ratio (9spd 12-25) with these wheels because the hub design only allows for select 10spd configurations (10spd 12-25 being the lowest) since they were one of the last 9spd wheels. For bar and seat post, I am thinking going with easton EC90 for both. Hopefully the total package should come in right around a low 16lbs. For now I was going to keep my current seat and pedals. Heavy but tried and true, and more upgrades would probably clear my account. I can always upgrade later for lighter and drop it down to a high 15lbs.

sweet

best of luck.... even though from the sound of it you dont need it

final drive depends on the chainring teeth used. probably 42/52 for low and hi, no? its been a while since i've been in the sport..
