Someone used BIN on my auction for my Hasport B-series EF mounts. I went to send them an invoice, and noticed they had an address in London, Kent, United Kingdom. WTF, my auction clearly stated that I would only ship to N and S America. I emailed him and told him that it would cost $140ish to ship it to him, bringing the total to around $500. I also told him that if I had not received payment within 72 hours via paypal that I would report it to PayPal. He responded with this email:

Hello,
Thanks for your prompt response, I will be sending you US Cashier’s Check worth of $1750 which is cashable same day at your bank, it’s include the shipper’s charges and the Item charges. I have to use the BUY IT NOW option to prevent other buyers. I will like you to wire transfer the excess funds to the shipper after you must have cashed the payment in your bank so that they can come for the pickup of the item as soon as possible. If this is okay by you, Send me the name, address and telephone number where the US Cashier’s Check will be mailed to you, hope to hear back from you as soon as possible. Also email me and let me know if you understand and I will make sure the payment is out with immediate effect. If you have any questions feel free to contact me through email. I will be waiting to read from you soon. It’s a pleasure doing business with you.
Warmest Regards

I responded and told him that I did not understand what he was asking me to do, and for him to contact me immediately via telephone.

Any advice or input is greatly appreciated!

+1, for being in England he sure can't use english very fuckin well. He's trying to send you a fake cashiers check, don't do it.

:werd:

I would get away from that situation as quickly as possible. Scam!

i've had several of those fuckin emails when i listed shit on craigslist.. thats one of the main things they warn you about

and to top it off the exchange rate is about $1.95 to £1.00

so if the items total cost is $500 USD, then the fellow would only have to send you ~

nigerians are moving to the uk. its all over the news.

100% scam. He's going to send you a check for 1750 for a 500 dollar item. So when you cash it and send him that extra 1250, you're now overdrafted 1750 bucks and are responsible for paying that back.

da cheat sez..

poor grammar + requests to wire money x people named morrison hugie = thbbt.

haha, morrison hugie. whee!

run, brotha.

That's how people get scammed. You send the "excess" funds just to find out later that the check is no good.

I forwarded it to ebay's security department...even though I doubt I'll get anything back...

and I relisted the item.

Sucks, because I had people bidding on it :(

fuckin' scammers. now I've gotta email all the bidders.

:(

Just post it on H-I. I haven't sold anything on eBay in years.

when you relist it on eBay .. make sure you tell them to contact you before bidding or else you'll cancel the bid
