Yes. Apparently they saw my resume on Monster.com and want me to be a Customer Service Rep. The funny part: I'm having a phone interview with this guy and he is running down the questions on his paper and he asks 'Have you ever worked on cars?' I say 'Yes, I have' and he pauses and says 'You have?!' Then we spent about 10 minutes talking about different vehicles. Let's hope I do well in the in person interview. :D I won't mind working for Jiffy Lube... especially in corporate or even an overpaid manager. ^_^

Congrats babe!!! My ex worked for JL and he actually made a pretty good check there... he did pretty much everything and became a manager he got his inspectors license working there too ^_^ You can make pretty good money on sales too!! I bet that you could sale the shit out of some of the stuff in there!! Best of luck to you!!!

Congrats =) I'll be coming in for a quick lube job.

oh god, i don't think those guys could handle you. work your way up fast, all the girls i've seen there are ghetto, trashy girls.

Well, this is for a 'customer service' spot, so I'm assuming it's front desk, but I told the guy that I was interested in learning how to be a lube tech and also mentioned that I had previous experience as a manager... so I'm thinking I can become a manager or move into a more corporate area... but the idea of getting to change oil is fun to me too, i just don't see any opportunity for advancement in that sector of the company...

I thought you were certified in that already?

why would you want to be stuck changing oil on hot cars?
hopefully you'll get some sales incentives "commission" and can sell services well

I don't want to be 'stuck' which is why I don't think I'm going to do the training program for the lube techs, but... I will see once I see if there are other places to move in that sector. My job will be to be the cashier pretty much... they'll walk into the little waiting room and I'll be in there processing the paperwork and doing all the stuff no one else wants to do. I'm speaking with the HR Manager on Tuesday about what they offer and I will for sure discuss with her the opportunities, if any, to move up in the company. I won't mind getting a corporate job with them eventually.

oh...so you won't be giving out lube jobs, just collecting the money for them. does that make you a madam?

I worked for JL and that was by far the shadiest shit i have been involved in. my manager, the district manager, and the owner of the local franchise were all fucking shady and we were pushed into selling unnecessary services a lot of the time. Me and one other guy wouldn't do it, which almost ended up in fist fights with the manager on more than one occasion. I ended up quitting and i have never regretted it. IMO, ripping off "stupid" girls and old people is fucking wrong and makes that money i could have made totally worthless to me. I'd much rather know that i have some honesty and integrity than ever work for that company again. Just watch, and you'll see what i mean.

only thing i have ever gotten from monster is job oppertunities to sell insurance, what gives? years of management and nothing

Uhm, I've been unemployed for a while. If I have to make money selling stuff, I'll do it. It's a franchise as far as I know, so maybe it was just that one you worked for. I never was pressured when I took my car to JL... I dunno, maybe it's changed in the few years it's been since I've been there. Either way, this is just a job to me. Hell, I won't mind ripping off stupid women/men/monkeys. It's an oil change, not a baby.
