i put 20 bucks of gas in my car and the gage still read empty then with one trip to alb it ran out of gas. ( i had just went to school and back.)what might be wrong with it? normally i would ask "that guy" but were not together havent seen him in a couple of days and really need advice on what to do i need to fix it asap.

Does it smell like there is gasoline leaking anywhere?

sounds like its running rich and spitting more fuel into the motor than it can handle.. is the car running kinda crappy

Nothing to do with being single, thanks for the eye-catching (or popping) title.

Your gauge doesn't work. Fix it.

next time you fill up, set your odometer (trip gauge) to "0" and see how many miles exactly you are getting per tank.

it could be anything from a clogged air filter to bad fuel filter or a bad spark plug.

start a gas fund. post up some nice pics and all the guys here will chip in to help you with the gas. :p

:withstupid:

That would probably give you half a tank, with a Honda gas gage it would probably read 1/4 then up to 3/4 then to empty as you are driving. I hate Honda gas gages.

Rumor has it that if you show more booty pics your mpg will go up.:moon:

I just had this problem (fuel economy), just start looking, start with the easy stuff and work towards the tougher stuff

Questions to ask yourself

have you changed your oil in the last 3,000 miles

if yes then

Have you changed your air filter in the last 30,000 miles
what about your spark plugs
howabout your wires
how about your fuel filter

if yes to all that

is your check engine light on? Could be your O2 senor or similar

is it backfiring? Could be running Rich

there is a 1000 things that could be wrong. Troubleshooting isn't about finding out what it is, it's more about finding out what it isn't

Could be many things.

Oh, and just to point this out, no tech questions in the Member's Lounge. This would be a General Tech question. :)
still kinda new at this.

thanks for your help.

running rich could be a post cat O2 sensor

symptoms are

rough idle
backfiring and sputtering
terrible fuel economy

basically the rear O2 sensor tells the engine how much fuel it needs (on a real basic level). Without the O2 sensor the ECU takes a "better safe then sorry" approach and starts dumping fuel into the engine
