Wow, first post!! Yes, I did a search. Anyway, my son bought a 92 Civic CX hatchback and wanted to put a B16A SiR II into it. So he bought one on ebay and now he is trying to put it in.
We got all the wiring done, thanks to this site and Rywire.

My question/problem is we dropped in the engine and hooked up the driver's and passenger's mounts, then put in the rear mount bracket which came with the engine. When we then tried to install the shift linkage we couldn't hook it up. It was like it's 1"-2" too long. So I contacted the place I bought the swap from (Osaka) and they said it can't be the shift linkage because there are only 2 kinds (Civic/Integra and the other being a Del Sol).

So my thought is, I might just have the wrong motor mounts or brackets. We are using the CX's rear mount, CX's driver's mount, the CX's passenger bracket but mount which came with the engine. See pictures

Anyone have any ideas? Do we have a wrong mount or bracket we are using throwing the engine back an inch or two?

BTW, we painted up the engine and trans with aluminum engine paint and it looks pretty good huh?

Appreciate any and all help

It's the linkage, Del sol linkage is actually about 2 inches too long, so you must have gotten del-sol linkage
you would have to get integra linkage 94-01, change out the ball cup, ball and shift lever out of the old liinkage and it should be the right length.

Thanks alot for the speedy reply. My linkage came with everything attached, should I order a new one and switch over everything else? I'm not sure what you are saying. "old linkage" as in the CX's? or the wrong one I received?

take the linkage off the new engine, take off the ball cup thingy remove the shift lever and ball/bushing and put it on new integra linkage.
you have to replace both pieces of shift linkage, here are the part numbers
54201-SK7-902 (gearshift rod)
54301-SK7-900 (change lever)
Ill post a pic in a minute

Finally received the right shift linkage, and low and behold it fits!

Thanks for all the help everyone. One thing though, the shifter sits far forward, it doesn't sit in the center of the boot/opening. So 1st gear is so far forward the shifter hits the plastic surround, while 2nd gear, when engaged, the shifter sits straight up in the center of the boot/opening. Am I making sense?

Could I have hooked it up wrong?

shifter might be backwards?? :shrug2:

Hahahahahahahaha ummmmm maybe....hehehehe

You ever get the feeling after someone posts an answer so simple and correct that you just feel stupid afterward?????

Thanks eg6sir:p
