I am building a crv vtec for my dc4, and was wondering what everyone thought of my setup of parts. jdm block, probe i beam rods, supertech 10:1 pistons, stock crank, balanced rot. assembly, az race block guard and main girdle, arp main studs, and clevite bearings. THe head is a GSR with skunk2 hi comp valves, KMS engineering dual valve springs and titanium retainers, GSR cams, Blox intake, Chikara Header, and GSR jdm computer. There is more, but its mainly duh stuff.
I was wondering how safe it would to run 8500 rpm on occasion with this set up? Does this setup sound liek a good one, or is there any problems that can be expected? Who knows of real world power numbers for the setup? How hard is it to install the MSD cap and rotor wth external coil? I know about the cap and rotor, I'm totoally dumb, just not sure of the coil. I probably have a few more questions, but I cant think of any yet. Thanks everyone in advance.

also.. if you plan on using a Blox manifold i'd run a chipped p28.. the gsr ecu is gonna be looking for the secondary butterflies

you can, but its not gonna feel the same.. .. why are you going with 10:1 pistons.. the stock compression is higher than that on a JDM GSR

first with the valves, and gsr head, the comp is at least 10.5 plus the head and block is shaved a little on each. (.3 on the valves, and the gsr head is .2 more than a B16) I was just going with the MSD cap and rotor to rid myself of the weak honda coil, though I have only heard that the coil is weak. This upgrade will probably be later.

Can anyone tell me where the stock GSR cams quit making good power at? I'm not going to turn the motor past 8500 rpm, and wont be driven that hard everyday. Just a good street car is all I'm going for, with the occasional run down the strip or against some friends around town. I am going to degree the cams, anyone know how much that will give me? Thanks guys.......

That doesnt tell me a whole lot, just where the peak numbers are at. What I am wondering is will these cams pull my car to around 8k or so with some authority or am I wasting my time with them.

Don't do it.

Don't support KMS.

My car doesn't really pull anywhere after 8k. Just revvin for fun.

LS/Vtec:

-B18B block
- TT rods
- SRP 12.3;1 pistons
- GSR head
- skunk2 IM
- Egay header

Theres certain things you can do for more "top end" power... 4-1 header, CAI, IM, CAM, head porting...

what computer are you running in your set up? what cams? i am thinking of just running my gsr cams and degree them in, and i found a chipped comp also. i am not interested in turning much more than 8k, just want a hard pull to there.

any set up you do besids i/h/e is point less with out a good tune why

Um. Stock cams are perfectly degreed with stock cam gears.

Dtob, you need aftermarket cams and that engine will wake right up. Your compression ratio and S2 IM are useless without cams to take advantage of them.

I will be upgrading them next year. The engine build/swap cost me quite a bit of cash. Next year I'm getting SIR tranny and S2 P2 cams with springs retainers etc.

Like blanco said, atleast get type r stuff. If not then shift at around 7.5k to 8k. Oh and I'm using a P28 chipped with crome and stock GSR cams.
