Hey everyone, this being my first post here I would like to say hello.

Now that the pleasantries are done with, down to business.

I have a 91 rex I would love to swap a hybrid K into. Yes I know its an expensive swap, I have already come to terms with that. My question to you all is this.

My shop says it will cost roughly 13,000 for parts. How realistic is that?
Keep in mind this is for a complete set up, we don't build anything half-assed (no disrespect to anyone meant). So, it includes...

k24a2 block/internals
K20 RSX-S head
RSX-S 6 Speed
Hondata K
Reinforced front axle (Rated to 500hp)
ECU Harness from hasport
10pt Rollcage (prebent chromoly tubing)
5pt harnesses
2x racing seats (cant remember brand)
Engine mount kit (needs to be welded)
3 plate clutch
4 core radiator

And I can't remember the rest, would help a lot if people could post their thoughts on what these should cost, that way I can cross check them with the statement I have and see if I can trust this shop for my parts or not.

This will be my first honda swap, but far from my first engine swap in general.
You can find our latest project here 1970 Ford F100 4x4 - ! '70 A+ Special

that is a pretty pointless build. you could do a lot of stuff for less than $13k. better yet, you could buy something already finished for under $10k with all the same stuff. and if it's 13k in parts, you are looking at another $3-$5k in labor. why do you want this swap?

if you really want all that stuff, check k20a.org. it would make more sense to A) do it yourself so you know about the car, instead of handing a big wad of cash over to a shop. B)buy something newer that would actually make sense. C) do some research. there are a lot of places to find info. You will be hard pressed to find someone that will actually price out all the parts for you.

:werd: .. i'll buy a k swapped car if i want one.. let someone else do the work and pay the labor

Like I said, Labor is $0, because me and my father will be doing it all. I was just wondering if anyone knew offhand what the major parts would cost, so i could compare to my own findings.

13k isn't that expensive for a car that will put 300hp to the ground in a frame that will weigh 2k at a maximum. I checked in the tires and I should be able to fit 220's under it without modding, so it should stick fairly well. If you can name something faster for 13k please do.

BTW 13k is for the complete car, not just the swap (body kit, gauges, seats, rollcage, exct.).

I also like the way CRX's look :)
(I think that covered everyones comments)

Anyone have any comments about the swap that don't reference how expensive it is?

(EDIT: I thought I would just post this so that everyone didn't think I was crazy and just throwing money at this, the engine is about 3k and the tranny is about 1.5k. Mount is around $650. Harness is around $350. So around 5.5k for the main parts. This isn't including all those little extras we are putting on there.)

You want to put down 300 in a fwd honda? Hell I would take an s2k and swap to a turbo v6.

Now to me thats a better alternative than putting 13K into a fwd.

That did come to mind, but a s2000 (even a used one), runs well over 20k just for the car if its in decent condition.

WHAT? I read about guys picken them up for super cheap thru a police impound.

Thats where Iam gonna look for my next project car.

He said for drag&show....13k for complete swap, interior+exterior finished....Pretty darn good price when people say it isnt....is it worth it? YES....complete k series are usaully around the range of 8k....once it hits the track and hit low 12's u best of believe its true....

a stock k20a with just aems intake in a cx hatch stripped outwith just driver seat in place, hit 12.7...i think he can do better but seeing 12's in a honda stock is VRUUMMM VRUMMM (fast)

.. umm.. i dont own a k swap, but i'll comment.. its too much money to drop into a CRX.. the motor alone is twice the value of the car.. and when the car gets stolen, you wont get that money back
