Hey

I have a 90 civic hatch when i brought it (couple years ago), i was told it was a 'Si' model.
But now after researching i'm not sure what model it really is.
It has

1.6 liter engine (block says D16A6)
4 speed transmission
Dual Point fuel Injection.
It has a Si badge at the back (but anyone could of put that on)

Could anyone tell me what model it really is?

thanks

sounds like it may be STD model - what is the VIN number?

D16A6 is the Si block, but Si models were MPFI and all had 5 speed transmission and factory sunroof

does it have a rear wiper?
does it have a console or just a boot?
does it have a factory tach?
does it have a red plastic panel between the tail lights or a plain black piece?

No rear wiper, No Tach, Plain Black piece between the tail lights, not certain but i think it has drums at the back.

should have VIN number 2HGED634#L####### - the ED634 is the 3 door STD hatch - the L is for 90 model year

prolly a previously totaled car with a b/s motor to get it sold....who know's....

:werd:

a dead giveaway is the sunroof. If it doesn't have a sunroof, it isn't an Si.

Sounds like someone threw an Si block into a STD hatch.

If you don't like the 4 speed tranny, I'll trade you a 91 DX 5spd for it straight up :)

Because of the lack of the accessories you mention, the black piece between the taillights, drum brakes, DPFI, and four speed transmission, it sounds like you have a STD model. Someone apparently swapped in an SI longblock, slapped on an SI badge, and kept the four speed transmission and DPFI.

+1..and who could forget about the beloved SI interior...

90-91 STD vinyl interior + 94+up Integra center console for interior perfectness.

are SI's that much better?? i like my DX :)

SIs are overrated, in my opinion. Honda added TONS of extra stuff you don't need, which added LOTS of weight. But they gave it a drivetrain with just enough power and shorter gearing to make it slightly faster than a DX. DX with swap > SI (with or without swap) ANY DAY!

The STD is ALWAYS the lightest Civic of a GIVEN year. Although, because later models had door mounted seatbelts, a 1991 STD is going to be heavier than a 1988 DX.
