I have huge bad luck with cars getting broken into/stolen. This is probably my 5-6th time at various locations.

Anyway, this morning had to go do some errands and noticed holes where speakers used to be. Looked at the console and half of it was taken apart and the deck was missing. Then noticed seats and other parts of the cars were vandalized. I was like AHH F**KING SH**! Not again. The deck was replaced about two years ago because the original was stolen, but had comprehensive. Insurance got too expensive and now only liability. So this time, screwed. At least they left a cassette tape behind. Hope they can get prints or some how track it down because its a latin tape and there arent too many hispanic or latin around the town. I have a filling its some shit hole punk teens from the town over.

I know people on this board have had similar experiences/threads. How did it turn out for you guys?

we get fucked like everyone else.
yep. we bite the bullet and eat the loss. it sucks nuts, but what can you do.

the only option is to get a better alarm and take the face off your cd player.

i totally remove my cd's, backpacks, anything visible in my car.

I was actually pretty lucky the last time I had a break in. My insurance company didn' haggle with me too much on the replacement cost of my stereo or the parts to replace my window and dash. I took the check and got most of the parts from a pretty reputable junk yard about 60 miles from my house. I actually came out ahead with my stereo because they paid me fair market replacement cost as I had all of the receipts.

Here is the best part. They actually caught the guy who bought my stolen stereo and the ring of theives that took it because of two un related things. First the group hit 17 cars that night in my apartment complex and the cops actually came out and printed the vehicles that were hit. Second - and I swear by this - I only purchase Eclipse decks because of their ESP security where you need to play a CD key whenever the power is disconnected.

Within a week a was called at my office from one of the local install places because someone brought in my deck claiming it was thiers and it was "broken". The installer called me to ask if it was stolen and then when I said yes called the police. The poor bastard didn't even realize what was about to happen when the officer walked into the shop - he was arrested on the spot.

I would recomment that anyone who loves their stereo to at least look into eclipse decks because if it is stolen within a year of the purchase date they will replace it for free and secondly you know that it will not work until you play your certain cd to unlock it.

I usually dont go out, if I do we take out a plain car.

At home, motion sensors all around my property and inside my big garage, then a gun :D

i stopped driving hondas :shrug2:

A Saturn down 4-5 parking spots got their window smashed and got jacked too. But, in generally Honda's do get broken/stolen more often.

I wasn't really expecting anything either since every time ive been jacked, nothing happens except my pocket getting lighter.

On a side note, my girlfriend wanted to get an OEM cd player. How much do they cost (used) usually and are all the single-din's universal? Like one from a 2000 odyssey will fit? Also, those fucktards cut the damn radio antennae, how do i fix that? the cable looks like the home cable/satellite ones where there is a thin wire in the center with insulation around it followed by more threaded wires.

I've had good luck with my car ever since my wheels got stolen, but then again - I live in suburbia hell. But numerous people I know who live around Worcester have had tons of problems. I don't worry about it all the time - but I still worry. Just stay up to date with insurance coverage and get reappraised every time you do anything significant. Also, keep ALL of your reciepts. It will help if your whole car gets stolen, and if your agent is flexible the amount can be added to you coverage. It's worth it if you have 5-6k into a car whose KBB value is 2-3k. I had my new wheels and tires added onto my coverage, along with all my reciepts for engine parts, stereo and suspension. You pay a little bit more up front, but you aren't fucked if everything is gone.

man that sucks i kinda live in da hood where every one knows every body and every thing. tha last time my shit got stolen my neigbers were out side and ended up beating the robbers down with a stick and bats talk a bout street justice. they woke me up at about 3 in the morning telling me that theirs a burgler on the side of my house i run around there and hes beaten half to death. so i guess it pays off to drink with your neighbers every friday night. hahahaha

go to autozone or ebay and buy a replacement antenna
unscrew it , pull it up a little, cut the wire and then tape the new antenna wire to the upper cut end
then go in the car and gently pull it through

tape it very well because it sucks trying to snake one through
and don't bulk up the tape too much cause it needs to fit through a small area
