Hey guys,
I am having my friend do a swap, 99 Si engine into an EK 97(DX), he is pretty good but has never done this type of swap. I know that it's common and many of you have some info on how to resolve my issues.

First thing is that the old AC compressor does not fit the new engine, what is the solution?
I also want to make the car smog legal so should I use the 99 Si wiring harness and ECU or keep the ones on the old engine?

My friend is telling me that wiring does not match and there are a few connections not matching or missing! Please help

Is it possible to add Power steering to the car?

If you can put in your few cents let me know,
Thanks

i got a b16a2 in my 97 hx... and this is wut i did u can take another route but this is the cheapest lol

i used the si harness but u have to buy a jumper harness to use the stock ecu its a obd2a-obd2b and i got it from rywire.com good company...

and i dont have ac or powersteering.. its not a big deal but if u want ac u need the si ac condenser

I have both ECU's, to make it smog legal which one am I better of with? Or should I contact rywire to see what they suggest?
I will definitely get the ac condenser from the Si since it's been about 95-100 degrees lately.

Thanks for the tips!

i would drop it down to obd1 if i was u... cant u not use the dx ecu bc its not vtec???

o yea i live in 29 palms cali and its like 108 everyday with no ac or powersteering... i wanna be cool so i go faster lol

I think I found some answers, some friends have told me to use a 99 si harness,,which I should get tomorrow!
Since I have both ECUs I'll just go with all 99 si stuff, It's a little more but I just don't want issues with the smog dude!
I want to use the v-tec on the new engine and this might be the best way..
Dude 29 palms huh, man and I thought I had it bad fellow Californian!!

Thanks for the info bro!

yea bro thats wut i was sayin to use the si harness but in the 99-00 si part of the harness stays in the car so to use the si ecu u need the obd2a-obd2b jumper harness then it plugs rite in

He is now using the 99 Si harness and ECU, therefore, he won't need the jumper harness. He would only need the jumper harness if he was using the 99 Si harness and his 97 HX ECU. Good luck.

you cant ues the 99 harness in a 97 unless you use the dask harness to and all that work is not worth it just use your 97 harness extend the tps, iac, o2 sensor, and a few other plugs for the crank angle poss. use the 99 plug and wire it on the 97 harness but give your self about 5in of extra wire just color match the wires and leave the extra on hanging and tape it off. since its a hatch you have to wire in vtec its not that hard just look on h-t, as for wireing if you have any ?s just shoot me a pm once every thing is wired up the only way to know if it is right is if you dont throw a CEL than every thing is good, for the PS you cant use it unlas you hatch had the ps option from the factory or you can change uot the entire stering rack but PS is over rated, and for the to make things a little easer on your self when you get the si compressor get the ac lones to because there alittli diffrent, for emishions this is what i do when ever i go for inspection a run my ex computer for about a day the car runs lean and like shit so baby it but it will pass on it.

I am a little confused, I am not pretty good with all the wiring info. Is there someone in Southern Cali that might help me out. We ended up using the 99 ECU(at least I think is it is an Si ECU) and the 99 Si wire harness. Now the car starts an all but the radiator fan won't turn on and the check engine light is on.....
My biggest concern right now is fixing the fan issue.
One thing to point out is that the harness has two plugs for the ECU and the one that plugs to the dash, The ECU has slots for four plugs, is this correct or did the guy that sold me the harness and ECU screwing with me?????

Thanks guys

you need a del sol b16 ac bracket 1996

youll need the donor cars ps system [hoses and all. or a94+ integra ps system.

you should be ok using the 99 si harness and ecu. its all one piece. and later you can do the obd1 conversion when you get some power adders

Actually you can reuse the civic power steering system. I am running a civic pump, belt and hoses on my ek with a b16. You just need to make an extension, i used some steel strapping. Also i used an ls upper and lower bracket, if you use an ls upper you can only use one bolt but it works fine(mine has never gotten loose).

do you have to wire for vtec even tho the harness passes through the firewall?
