I'm sure the info I'm trying to find is either here somewhere (i've searched) or on some other forum elsewhere on the internet so if you know post a link, or post a reply, I do not need any condescending lessons on how use google or the search functions on this forum.

#1 I have a 93 accord 5 spd in excellent condition w/194,000 miles. The f22 is a bit tired.
#2 Would it be worth my while to swap to h22a or other VTEC engine?
#3 What engines are good candidates for the swap - least rewiring, fabricating, and general screwing around.
#4 JDM or USDM - I've "browsed" h22a engines from $900-$1100 complete with trans, exhaust and axles.

This car is a daily driver but has "non-stock" suspension/brakes/tires/wheels. It will not be raced at all I was just looking to refresh it a bit. A new motor seems a bit more appealing price wise since the car itself is in such good condition.

An OBD1 H22 is the best choice for your car. H22 is essentially a bolt-in swap for the 90-93 Accord. Basically all you'd have to do is run some wires for VTEC. As far as USDM versus JDM goes, the differences are really negligable. Some of the JDM H22s came with LSD transmissions from the factory, so if that's something you're interested in, I'd look into a JDM motor/tranny combo.

If it was me I would do the H22 swap. I have a 94 accord coupe ex. I put an H22 in it in March and I love it. It will be money well spent if you do it. I really don't race, but I just love the extra pick up and the look on people faces when I be beside them and they hear that vtec. They look like they've seen a ghost or something. I have a full exhaust. Magnaflow cat and muffler. Nice and quiet when just crusing and deep toned when I get in it. I'm running 2.25' exhaust. It's a good sleeper and yours would be as well. My accord look stock. All I have is jag. type s tails and clear corners, bumpers, and sidemarkers. No stupid body kits or anything. I do plan to get the Accord SiR tach, for the correct redline showing. I am going for the SiR theme. I have the official SiR badge as well on my accord and took the ex off of course and I do want the grill and flush mount spoiler.

Thanks for the info guys - I too am kind of a fan of sleepers, I almost bought on ebay a stock appearing prelude with 330+HP (so the seller claimed)

an f23 with an h22 head would be cool

I'm assuming that would have to be built? I really wasn't looking to get to involved in the swap since this car is just a daily driver, but how much more power would the f23w/H22 head be than just a stock h22?

it wouldnt have to be built but some mods would have to be done to the block for it to work. you wouldnt make anymore power but you would pick up some displacement and a little tq

Next queston - should i change to the prelude trans or is my Accord trans the same? I've found that SOME of the JDM units have factory LSD, but I'm really not to concerned with that. A little tighter 1st to 2nd ratio would be nice though.

the h22 has shorter gears, you will be happier with it if you are looking to drag race... if you are wanting a highway car the f22 trans will work better

Thanks for the info, I'm not look to race this car at all, so I will keep the Accord trans, maybe get a lower milage one & replace the shift linkage and cables.
