just bought a 94 si , its riced out bad... like altezzas, huge can, short ram from pep boys, junk coil overs, blue head lights fake gucci interior, hood scoop, whole nine, o and its automatic:( good news i got it for 1800 but it has 160 on it ... so my question is where shoul i start with it ...

Honestly, with 160K miles on it, and the previous owner ricing it out, he probably didn't spend ANY money on Matinance. I hate to say it, but Deal with the rice-factor, Start by Replacing Plugs, Wires, Cap + Rotor, Valve cover seal, Check on other suspension components, like lower control arm bushings *Cause bad camber wear VERY quickly* Brakes *VERY important*

If you want this car to last you, start with those things, THEN worry about the Rice-Factor. After that My personal opinion is
1: Go to a local junkyard, Pickup some stock bulbs out of a car there, Stock Tails, Get the body back to stock, it will help the re-sale value. Keep an eye out for other SI's or EX's for a Transmission and ECU.
2: You can pickup a set of decent struts/springs for less than $300 BRAND new
3: Again, replace maintance parts as you go!

ok cool thanks.. going to get that stuff tomorrow and i did check the brakes lol first thing i did when i got it home, also talked to this guy at work hes gunna check out the suspention... how hard is a trans swap in your opinion , and is it worth it?

You'd be amazed how much basic maintance can help power output. My 92 CX Hatch walks all over I/H/E Civics *A 96 DX, and a 98 LX* and I'm a ghetto headswap off another civic no Vtec or anything, just maintance!

Keep in mind, if you do a Transwap, you are gonna need a new ECU *$70+, Axels *I believe*, and The transmission itself *Probably a trans mount in there as well* also you have to be sure to buy an D series SI Transmission as Anything else is really garbage and geared for fuel economy. while you are doing the swap you should of course replace the clutch and anything else in there that wears out or breaks easily, and this is assuming you got a transmission that doesn't need a rebuild... I don't mean to be negative, I've just lost alot of money making mistakes like these *Bought a Junkyard transmission for my Taurus a while back for $200, Installed it *Cost $500 for a shop to put it in, another $650 in suspension work the 'claimed' I needed, and then the trans started slipping 2 months later.

*Cliffs notes* - If you want to do the manual swap, be sure to buy your trans from a good source, or rebuild it before putting it in.

Is this a Civic? Or a Del Sol? If it's a Civic, then it's not a real Si. There was no automatic Si that year...or any year for that matter.

d16z6 swap. about $400.

change the lights, get stock interior. hella easy and cheap to do.

quick question, might sound stupid, but arn't all d-series tranny's geared the same or r they that much different?

Why would all the trannies be geared the same? Different gearing for different motors; the EX/Si transmissions are going to have shorter gears than the DX/LX ones.

And don't jack up people's threads. Start your own.

Go to a junk yard and talk to the owner / manager. He'd be more than likely be happy to swap you stock parts for aftermarket parts.

Its worth a shot, anyway.

Under full throttle, my CX Tranny *I believe is the same as a VX* redlines at 40mph in first, 78 in second, 110ish in third. 4th and 5th are only useful to keep the car rolling on the freeway really.

ok so what trans should i put in it, cuz i saw a wrecked del sol today but the guy said it was a 1.5 non vtec (didnt get the engine type) but he sed i could have the whole car for 700 it is a 5 speed , so i was thinking about grabing the trans out of it... good idea? also how many differnt transmissions will fit the d16?

Any transmission off a D-series engine will work on all other D-series engines.

So yes, it will work, but No, you shouldn't buy it as the gearing is for fuel economy and the car will be even slower than it is now.

a Civic SI or EX Transmission, or a Delsol SI Transmission are the only ones that will let you take advantage of the top-end power the motor has, the rest are garbage.

o ok so the ex and the si del sols are both vtec?? and thats the trans i want correct?

o and a side note i was talking to the guy who owned it 3 owners ago lol crazy right... but he sed that there was only 500 automatic si's made and that it was like a rare car BLAH BLAH BLAH...... and he sed to keep it automatic because it deletes human eror on shifting and its faster than a 5 speed and its worth more money .... but i deff want it manual cuz i hate it rite now but i figure you know like way way more than me so... guide me on the rite path o wise one lol.....

o and phyregod i did that today with the junk yard they sed they wernt interested but thanks for the idea

Civic EX Coupes, Civic SI Hatchbacks, and Delsol SOHC SI's all should have the same engine and transmission. I'm unsure what is in a EX Delsol if there even is one, sorry I should have said that earlier.
