So I'm on week 2 of the Chantix and it appears to be working. I've been smoking up to this point, but like 3 a day. When I hang out with friends I want one, and I'm mostly bored just sitting and not smoking.

But the physical withdrawal, didn't have it. I actually FEEL fine.

So today I didn't even pick up a pack. I'm done with them. I feel no different before or after one (With this stuff) so the only thing I have to get over is the incredible boredom.

Riding this weekend helped a lot, but the bike is in the shp today (Read motorcycle forum)

its tough
i've "quit" a week or 2 ago, but drinking with friends that smoke usually results in having a smoke that night

its all in your head...if you really wanna stop you can

oh hey, really ?

Cuz it's neat that there are thousands of professionals, doctors and centers across the globe dedicated to addiction, when all they need to know is that "it's in their head".

Yes, it's in my head.

yup...i have always believed that its in your head...i don't believe in addiction period...i find that as an excuse for people to continue doing certain things that file under the "addiction" category...i used to smoke...and one day i decided i didn't want to anymore...and guess what...i haven't smoked since...blah...don't give me that addiction whiny BS

my advice is just dont think about it
that seems to be the down fall for a lot of people
they sit there counting off the seconds that they have been smoke free for
no smokes for 1 hour
no smokes for 3 days
no smokes for a week and a half
no smokes for.... AHHHHHH!!!!!! GIMME A FUCKING CIGARETTE!!!!!

and then theyre back to smoking again

just dont think about it
dont focus on how long its been
look at each craving the same and just tell yourself
it doesnt matter if its 2 days 2 weeks or 2 years, a craving is a craving... you just need to keep telling yourself
i didnt smoke for almost 2 years after my accident... then i started leting myself smoke only when i was out with friends at the bar.... then i started going to the bar more just so i could smoke... then i allowed myself to smoke with friends out getting coffee too... then i was back to smoking all over again

need more incentive? then try to reward yourself by putting the money you would have spent smoking aside for something else (house stuff, car stuff, bike stuff, gun stuff, vacation, etc)
shit a pack a day habit runs you about $2000 per year... i can think of a lot of cool shit to do with that money

It is all in your head... I tried to quit a few times... And it would work, then i would say fuckit i want a cigarette... and start again...

One day, I woke up, and said I quit... Havent picked up a cigarette since.

Saturday will be four years since i've had a cigarette... I still crave them... But now its a "I've made it this long, i'm not going to ruin a 4 year streak for 1 lousy cancer stick"...

Tom Cruise ? Is that you ?
its ok man...just keep using "addiction" as your excuse...the two posts after yours only back up what I'm saying even more (excluding the sex one of course)...if you wanna truly stop you will stop...

So, what is your primary reason for quitting?

So, what is your primary reason for quitting?

That in today's day and age, where we know that cigarettes cause cancer, you have to be downright idiotic and possess reckless disregard for your body and life if you continue to smoke?

...that would be my reason to quit, or not to start.

Oh yes and then the extra $7.50 for each pack of cigs.

I rarely pay over $3.25 a pack for cigs. After the tax increase, I pay about $3.50 per pack. Not a lot.

I'm getting my life ready for kids.

this guy has his hands full.
