i bought a 1990 CRX SI from a friend of a friend and the transmission went out it has a B16 Vtec JDM he told me the Transmission was a LS transmission i have know idea what this means i need to replace the trany and need to know what the best type of trany i can put in it. if you guys can help me with a modle number or what car i need to get it out of.. or what to even ask for, the tag on it now is A11915467

Don't get another ls trans. They have long gears designed for gas mileage, and don't respond well to a b16's low torque output, and peaky power curve. Find a cable trans for a b16, or find a cable trans from a 92-93 integra gsr

b16 trany

Not necessarily. B16 refers to a motor. Lots of Honda cars came with B16s (i.e. Del Sol VTEC, 99-00 Civic Si, lots of Japanese Civics, etc.).

Forget about which motor and which tranny goes in what specific car. What you want is a short-geared tranny, so look for a transmission that was originally paired with a B16 or B18C.

He has a crx, which means he needs a cable trans. 94-01 GSR's, Del Sol Vtec, and 99-00 si trannies WONT work because they are hydraulic. The only other option for a cable short geared trans is a 1st gen b16 cable trans imported from Japan or from someone who already has one here.

Good point about the cable transmission. He started talking about Del Sols so I forgot that he's dealing with an older car.
