Test Pipe vs. Straight pipe

I'm thinking of re-doing my exhaust on the wagon, it has to be custom made because it is different from CRX/Civics.. So no catbacks.

My friend had a 3" straight pipe to a open ricer cannon on his turbo b18, and it sounded awesome, of course the turbo made a huge difference but I would like something like that if possible.

I would like to to a straight pipe into a tip or something because I like the way it sounds with open headers.. I also thought about using a test pipe but it seems like with test pipes and tips that you get a lot of raspiness with them, where as a straight pipe has a open header sound with not a lot of rasp.

What muffler would be the best sounding with a straight pipe?

Any exhaust reccomendations? Keep in mind it has to be custom made, and we don't have any emission tests around here so that isn't a problem. I DO NOT want that ricey garbage..

A test pipe will pretty convert the exhaust system into a straight pipe as long as the "cat-back" part is the same.

test pipe allows you to remove your catalytic converter for the track... i suggest not driving around town like that.. unless you like unwanted attention and the smell of gas inside the car

I had straight pipe on my CRX and it had the same symptoms. lol

get a really long riffled resonator. youll want the riffled one because it will give you the back pressure you need when NA.

Go with straight pipe more exhaust out of car and a faster way to remove the narrow the pipe the faster the exhaust finds the exit. Test pipe are for emissions in some states it is neccessary to pass smog but optional in other 49 states. Hope this helps
