i just bought my motor for my hatch i ended up going with the d15b i came with dual carbs and i wanna know what will give me more power the dual carbs or my dpfi any help is greatly appreciated

Stick w/ the carbs unless you are prepared to switch over to OBD-1 or OBD-2 & Vtech.

What you have is the D15B4. To make the swap, you'd need the head, intake, harness, ECU...and probably few other components from the Jap-spec D15 from a '91 thru '99 Civic VTi.

Good luck.

im just curious as to why you choose that perticular motor?
i doubt that he actually chose that motor - he probably ordered a JDM D15B thinking he was getting the OBD1 SOHC VTEC 128hp model - a lot of people don't know that there are a about half dozen different JDM D15B SOHC engines, the OBD0 98hp dual carbed, the OBD0 108hp MPFI, the OBD1 128hp VTEC, the OBD1 92hp VTEC-E (like a D15Z1) and the OBD2 128 hp 3-stage VTEC (could be more, but these are the ones i personally have seen) - unless you know specifically what you want and what to look for when buying it, you could end up with any of the above unless you tell the people you are buying it from exactly what you want - all of these engines just say D15B on the block

You are correct sir!
As you can see, most of these puppies only make 60-70 hp, except for the vtech motors which pumps up to 130. The only one w/ dual carbs is the B4, and she's spitting out 100hp.

So, he could swap out his top end for a more modern version, and actually *drop* like 20 - 30 horses. WTF?

i believe that the engine he has is not a D15B4 but is a D15B from a JDM 88-91 Civic 5 door shuttle 55X, although they are identical - the JDM just doesn't say D15B4 - the dual carb JDM D15B engine is basically the same as the USDM D15B2 DPFI engine, just has carbs - it is 98hp - swapping the MPFI intake manifold, injectors, throttle body, etc. gives you about the same engine as swapping the MPFI onto a DPFI DX/LX - we have swapped a few of these engines into DX models using the DPFI - you need to make a block-off plate to cover the hole in the back of the head where the mechanical fuel pump is located
