lid blown wide off Pats spying scandal

why would the best coach, cheat against a team they can beat, in a game that really doesn't matter, against a guy who knows his tactics?

sounds pretty dumb to me. they should give up a 3rd rounder and suspend belichik. make an example out of him.

it's funny how the Pats always got credit for not having any major super stars but yet always being the dominant force in football

then all of a sudden you find out that it isn't "great synergy" or coaching, they're just cheating

wonder if ND is doing this now

Now wait a minute. How is it cheating to watch defensive call signs? Whats the big deal?

Just because nobody else has done it doesn't make the Patriot's cheaters.

play calling in football is supposed to be about play calling, it's one of those "spirit of the game things"

It's sports. It's a whole different reality.

Like MMA soap opera shit. 99% of the world can shrug their shoulders, but to MMA Guys it's the biggest shit in the world.

Then we all laugh at Wrestling fans.

Well there is no need for outcry against the pats if what they did is not "technically" illegal.

Stuff like this has probably gone on for years, yet this is the first time a team has used technology to do it . . and now its wrong?

Bah, they got caught. Don't think for one second that every team isn't pulling the exact same shit.

well I know camera monitoring of play calling is illegal and they've been seen doing that

also if you read the article is says a bunch of coaches are comming forward saying that thier headsets would "quit working" right when they were about to score on NE

wait?

Big house? Are you from Michigan Caz?

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Problem is that it is illegal. They sent spies into other camps and recorded other teams, allegedly.

Completely against the spirit of competition and against NFL guidelines.

I'm not sure how much that sort of cheating would help because it would be extremely difficult to learn an entire opponent's play book along with their signals in a week, and then prepare your team to defend against those plays. It seems like a crappy way to gain a small edge by making a ton of work for yourself and your staff.

Might as well just train hard and win the old fashioned way, if you ask me.

If they're found guilty, they should get suspended for a few games.

You are missing the point: Its like steroids in baseball - everybody does it. If they criminalize the pat's, then every other team is at risk . .

No, you're missing the point.

Moral turpitude is the issue. If everyone jumped off a bridge, would you?

You have to pay to play. You know, you do the crime, you do the time?

holy shit. they just got fucked

belichick was personally fined $500k
patriots were fined $250k
if they make the playoffs this year, they lose their 1st round draft pick.

that was a little too harsh. i believe they should be punished, but that was too severe.

I don't think that was a harsh punishment at all. When you're logging upwards of 10million a year after endorsements and salary, $500,000 is a drop in the bucket. $250,000 to a franchise is nothing. Losing a first round draft pick is clearly the most damaging punishment.

I think a harsh punishment would have been to suspend the entire team for 2 games, impose fines, and take their draft pick..

you can't suspend the team for something done by one person. like i said before, they should have just suspended belichick and taken a 2nd or 3rd rounder. i guess the league is expecting them to win the super bowl so they will only lose out on the 32nd pick in the draft.

It wasn't one person.

It was the entire coaching staff and all the guys who had been caught filming. This is the entire franchise.

Tom Brady knew about it and didn't tell anyone, therefore I would venture a guess all the players knew as well.
