I want to go! Hmm... too bad I'm not gay and hot... Lance Bass might take me. "certain" objectives. Looks completely plausable. Hope it happens.

wanna cure aids to?

infect bill gates, warren buffett, and carlos slim helum.

all science needs is an incentive. aren't there more important things than trips to the moon?

Actually, it would be pretty well spent. That's cheap. Space exploration IS very important too. Just because we've been there before doesn't mean we don't still have a TON of things to learn.

i totally understand the quest for knowledge, i'm just struggling to see the importance of space exploration. we still don't know everything going on here on earth.

What? 'cel can't land crap on the moon.

Unless you put a piece of crap "rare" mid-80s car on the moon and tell him that he can have it if he tows it home.

Then yeah, I could see it happening.

:lmao: thats great

yep, because we have never been to the moon before. thats a well spent $30 million.

Going to (and staying on) the moon is quite useful. The craft we build to go to Mars will more than likely need to be built in orbit, and what better place to manufacture and transport the materials into orbit than from a place where the gravity is 1/6th the norm? Saves a shitpile on fuel and machine costs.

Yeah, the initial cost of getting there and setting up shop will be quite costly, but it was the same way for the first settlers here.

But the biggest drive to go to the Moon, Mars and beyond is, put simply, real estate. We haven't had any "new" land to put shit on in quite some time.

Look at what we've done with one bigass rock. Imagine what we could do with two or three.

in my senior spacecraft design course, we are designing a manned mission to venus.

900*F surface temps
90+ atm surface pressures
95% earth gravity
volcanic surface
clouds of sulfuric acid

wonder why we are going to mars first?

:werd:

It would take more than a halfassed 'just enough to make it seem like you know what you're talking about' amount of knowledge to actually make it to the moon. He could probably google all sorts of bullshit and tell us a shitload of stuff with random big words thrown in here and there....

but he couldn't actually do it.
